Take 5 restaurant in Norwich

I've eaten food from here countless times. I've also eaten from the other Thai restaurants and takeaways in Norwich but if I'm getting a Thai takeaway now I will only use Take Thai as they are simply the best. I am a veteran traveler to Thailand having been over 20 times and I can tell you the food here is as authentic as it gets. Personally I love the food from the Isaan region of Thailand so it's great they have Isaan favourites like Som Tam, Laab and Nua Nam Tok on the menu with proper sticky rice to go with them. I also often order a curry with the Massaman being my favourite, it's absolutely divine! There is often a fair wait for a delivery at the weekend, I have waited a couple of hours but only on one occasion. The driver was apologetic for the delay and polite as always. I guess it's understandable that they're busy at the weekends though as the food is unbeatable!After reading through some of the other reviews I was inspired to add something for the benefit of people who aren't aware that real sticky rice or Khao Nyaw in Thai is absolutely nothing like the sticky rice you will find in supermarket ready meals or westernised Thai restaurants serving unauthentic fair. Real sticky rice is actually fairly hard and chewy. It is not meant to be eaten with a fork like steamed rice. It is meant to be eaten with your hands and either dipped into sauce or mixed with your hand typically with dryer, spicier dishes and not curries. If you've yet to try it order yourself a Som Tam (green papaya salad) and Khao Nyaw (sticky rice) and be prepared to be transported straight to Thailand! It's heavenly!

Superb quality food, good portions at a decent price for the standard. An extensive and varied menu with tasty freshly cooked dishes. No sloppy glutinous sauces or pre cooked dishes here. Our delivery was going to be 1 hr 15 mins but in reality was little more than 30 minutes. Would highly recommend this Thai restaurant.

We used to love Take Thai but its gone downhill. We ordered plain noodles, two mains and a starter and it came to £44. For this you expect some quality. Unfortunately the crispy beef is pure batter, the pork belly is just pure fat swimming in BBQ sauce and the starter and noodles were bland with weird textures. The sesame toast was a stodgy grey mess that was inedible. (pic attached) Shan't be using them again.Update following Take Thai's reply... I'm sure it's that sort of arrogance as to why it's gone downhill. Well done on your award, the judges must love grey stodge.

Amazing food. Always fresh and the best. This is the only take away we eat as we just can’t find anything better. Even our ten year old son looks forward to it. Lovely friendly staff also.

The Thai really is miles ahead of anything else I have tried in Norwich and the V3 dish brought me right back to Thailand. Very enjoyable!Highly recommended.

Fantastic staff! Ordered in store and waited, had a conversation with the front of house. Really nice people and down to earth. The food was absolutely amazing! I really enjoyed it and will certainly be returning. I recommend the ‘spring roll heaven’

By far the best Thai I’ve had in Norwich, the service is impeccable and the food is always amazing. I’ve been going to collect and ordering delivery from take Thai for years and have always had a 5* experience, when wanting to try something new they’ve always given me great recommendations based on having got to know me and what I like. Always a happy customer, highly recommend!

Fantastic takeaway. Gave them the postcode to the wrong Travelodge in Norwich to deliver to so they had to quickly cross the city to get to where we we’re staying and they were lovely about it. Gorgeous food. We use it every time we stay here

I've used Take Thai for many, many years, the food is always consistently good. I'm providing this review so you can hopefully use this as constructive feedback.I think Take Thai must be having some delivery challenges at the moment. The last 3 times I have used Take Thai, the delivery times have taken so long. This week for example, I was meeting some friends one evening and we decided to try an avoid the lengthy delay we had before. So we phoned through and placed our order at 5.15pm for delivery between 7 and 7.30pm. We actually didn't receive the order until 8.05pm.At 7.33pm we called to ask where the food was, "the driver is on his way, he should be with you in 30 minutes" was the reply and not very apologetic at all. We then said "well if it's taking 30 mins our food will be cold"?, "let us know if the food is cold when it arrives and we can arrange a discount" was the reply. 8pm arrives, still no food. We call again and were told "driver is 4 mins away". Eventually the driver turns up at 8.05pm and said he had come straight from the shop. So I would really recommend being truthful about deliveries too. A better response would have been, I'm sorry for the delay, we forgot to cook your order, we are doing it now and will get it straight to you and as a gesture of goodwill we will provide a discount.I really hope these delivery issues get sorted as I would hate for this to impact what is usually a flawless business. The food is great albeit a little pricey and the delivery time is a bit hit and miss so book in plenty of time. We've always used Take Thai as the food is excellent but on the last order, the sticky rice was inedible due to being VERY hard and stuck together as per photo. I love my sticky rice but not that time! I left feedback on their website a few weeks back but with no reply but have noticed they respond to these reviews. :-) Great food but make sure the rice is not too hard to eat in future! Thanks!
