Waterstones in Norwich

My partners favourite place to visit in Norwich, a massive selection of books and also some interesting board games. Staff are friendly and have some excellent read selections. We've been to a couple of book signings now and again really nice atmosphere, both times have had some free cakes and drinks which is nice.

Lovely welcoming bookshops are getting so rare these days and this is the most accessible shop left. Fantastic range of books, lengthy uninterrupted browsing is welcome and there's a coffee shop AND toilets. The staff are welcoming and seem to love their job. This is a highlight of my visit to Norwich, always.

Lovely dog friendly place to visit for relax while reading a book, having some coffee or tea, and food. When outside is too hot, we like sitting here and refreshing with air conditioning and ice-americano.

Any (most) bookshops that have survived Amazon (& Covid), deserve 5 stars. A large store on two floors: with the main entrance on the ground floor from the pedestrian precinct, & coffee shop on the 1st floor that also has an entrance & exit to the main street & Castle Mall. Wide range of books on display & always helpful staff. Post Covid survival & the coffee shop is open again.

Waterstones is both a great place to shop for books and a great cafe. The prices at the cafe are what I'd expect and it has a cosy atmosphere. Whenever I have free time while waiting for something in Norwich, I always find myself at the cafe.

Relaxing place to select from a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books both hardback and softback on shelves but also can order in, click and collect and get delivered. Also good selection of by one get one half price and new publications.

I love Waterstones! Particularly this one, located in Norwich.There are a couple of floors, all full with all types of books. A dream for book lovers!There is a great children's section as well. There is also sections for gifts and audio books.There is a cafe onsite as well, for when you buy that special book (or two, or three or four haha) and you just can't wait to get home to read it/them.The staff are all friendly and helpful. If you can't find a book you're looking for, they are happy to help.You can get points for buying books (if you have a Waterstones card) or use them to buy one later. The card can be physical or an app.The shop is massive with loads of space.They have book signings as well, so always good to keep an eye out.

Bigger and better than I realised. Although on the left there were lots of boxes (delivery day) and had to side step to get around them.Good children's section with clearly marked areas, a play area, lots of good quality toys and soft toys which accompany books.Didn't go upstairs but there is a cafe there. Staff were knowledgeable and very helpful, clearly knew their stock.

Great spacious bookshop, a mixture of topical categorised shelves and some more mixed groupings downstairs among new hardbacks which leads to surprise and discovery. Loved the half-price hardback offer that ran late December.Really good cookbook range. Art books could be expanded/more prominent. On a previous visit spotted a local authors shelf.Not as much choice on gender/LGBTQ/feminism, DEI, psychology/neuroscience or culture wars as I'd hoped but perhaps the demand is not there. Some notable absences from both LGBT+ and gender sociocritical selections but significant inclusions too so as not to appear overly curated. I like to be tempted to read outside my echo chamber.Could do with a few chairs or stepstools downstairs around to pile my books on or sit to peruse a potential purchase, helps the ageing, disabled, tired among us shop more easily and for longer!In Norwich, at least, a city that 20 years ago was home to a dozen new and secondhand bookshops it's good to see the sector reclaim the High Street alongside online sellers. Bedford/London/Castle St/Davey Pl have 5 bookshops now. Healthy competition, customer service, choice and events are key.

I visited Waterstones recently to buy a new copy of The Art of War and was helped to locate it by a friendly staff member.As well as a wide range of new and classic works which are kept regularily refreshed, Waterstones also boasts pop culture ephemera, gifts including educational toys, and a small cozy cafe.Also, chat supremo and local author Alan Partridge once did a book signing here.
