Went there for lunch on a very hot sunny day, The staff had managed to arrange the umbrellas outside to provide the least possible seating for diners which was disappointing. So we opted to sit inside, waitress spoke very little english and did not seem to know much about what she was doing. We went for a steak which was overdone and the pepper sauce was tasteless and watery. Mushroom and chips were outstanding, but they do not really constitute a steak lunch in my book.We complained about the food and got no further comment apart from the bill. Shame as this appears that it could have a lot of potential, but if they cannot listen to criticism or do not want to hear it then customers will not go back.Loads of other options with much better and better value food to choose from. I personally will not be going here again.

The little brother to the main restaurant in Peterborough city centre, in name only. The venue is clean and crisp. Placed along the embankment and river.Good attentive service. The food is some of the best in Peterborough, if not the surrounding area.It is all of 5 mins from the centre along the river and deserves to be a lot busier than it is.Lovely food would recommend.

Very friendly staff. Great location right by the river with glass all round for great views of the riverside and over to the Cathedral. Perfect for pre-theatre meals, but also top notch nosh, so well worth straying from the centre of town to avoid the chains and fast food joints. Good wine list too.

This place was all fur coat and no knickers. A very clean space with large windows over looking the gardens and river, this restaurant radiates a professional feel. The staff are very attentive and regularly check on how your food is. The overheads of this place is almost laughable. A 2-course meal may be a reasonable £15, but you will be left hungry afterwards. I had a soup to start which didn't come with any bread. Adding a "homemade" bread sharer to the table cost £3.50 which consisted of 4 slices of bread, oil, and a tiny bit of butter. The main was actually okay. Crème bruleé desert was miniscule, the dish it was served in was like an optical illusion - very shallow. A tea/coffee will set you back £2.75. Rediculous. 3 hours later and I was hungry again. There's a Chinese restaurant that smelt quite good on the river- I resisted.

Food and service excellent. The chef, Sam, is a credit to Café Clarkes.
