Dog in a Doublet in Peterborough
Where is Dog in a Doublet?
🏠 North Side, Thorney, Peterborough PE6 0RW
"A family run Traditional Pub with a country kitchen and farmhouse rooms, Dog in a Doublet has regularly won Peterborough's Pub of the Year. After being derelict for years the building has been lovingly restored by Della and John who's passion for food and animals is clear. Known for its farm to fork policy the food is renowned and after appearing on BBC Masterchef, head chef John has created a menu that is local and seasonal but still reflects his passion for world cuisine, creating English dishes with a twist. The building is surrounded by the working farm which is home to pigs, goats, chickens and horses and beyond that, the beautiful Fenland Landscapes. Enjoy Dog in a Doublet by staying in one of the farmhouse rooms or Bell Tents"

Came here for lunch today with my family after having a nice ride on their boat. I LOVED the food but it took a little longer than expected, but the food is cooked properly using a pizza oven, a BBQ e.g. I will definitely come back here 😋

We came today for a breakfast date as we hadn't managed to have a spare evening this week and we've decided it was so good, we will do it again. The service was outstanding - friendly and attentive without being intrusive and the environment was clean and comfortable. I had the Dog in a Doublet scrambled eggs and my husband had the big breakfast, both were well cooked and delicious. We will definitely be back as we really enjoyed our visit.

Food is delicious. No complaints if you’re looking for a good roast dinner. However, the time it took for us to get our food was ridiculous. We had a table booked for 2.30. Starters didn’t come until 3.45.Other tables who came in after us were served faster than us. We weren’t even a big table. 4 adults and 2 children under 3.With having wo young children you would think they would be prompt to serve us but they were very slow, which meant they were getting agitated because the food was coming out so slowly. We were conscious that we didn’t want to disturb other diners, so this made the experience frustrating.Food is genuinely good, but service was slow. So keep this in mind especially if you’re going as a large group or with young children.

Food was lovely, every single thing on the plate was full of flavour. We did have to wait a bit but it was worth it. Staff was very nice and friendly and my dog got a first class doggy roast. We will definitely go gack. Thank you

Ordered Sunday lunch took a considerable time to arrive roast potatoes rock solid, beef really tough plenty on the plate but not really enjoyed. Wine £7.50 a glass plus a service charge of 10% so a bill for 2 x wine. 2 x Diet Coke and lunch £75 !!!! First & last visit you can get better value elsewhere

We went for Sunday Lunch on Sunday 30th January and came away disappointed. Our drinks were served and we ordered our food. I was the only one of a party of 3 that wanted a soup starter. After a while all our main courses arrived and when I mentioned my starter, it had been forgotten. There was plenty of food but sadly it was almost cold. I couldn't eat my yorkshire pudding as it was completely cold. Quite a way through our lunch we were asked if everything was ok. We said the food was cold and then asked if there was anything we would like. We said no ... though a warm meal would've been welcome, we had almost finished. We all left some food.We were very disappointed that we wasn't given a refund or even discount. We won't go back.

Great, friendly place. Clean rooms at a good price, including family rooms. Fab outside space. Top class food. Would definitely visit again

Looking at the reviews this place is either good or bad and for us it was bad, very bad. I have had to give it one star as as no stars wasn't an option. Truly awful. There were 16 other people in last saturday besides my wife and I, so not what you would call busy. Twenty mins before we even had a drinks order taken. An hour and a half to get our main course of Spanish style squid, and my Wagyu burger with smoky fries. The fries were the cheapest oven fries you can get, like Farmfoods cheapest with a bit of chip spice on and very dry. The squid.......an hour and a half to produce that. Gritty, luke warm, rubbery lumps and completely inedible. It was so bad they didn't charge us for it.Background music so loud you can hardly hear yourself think.I don't know about having links to MasterChef this was more like Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares.Definitely one to avoid.

Stayed here last week whilst visiting family in Whittlesey. The welcome was warm, nothing too much trouble. Lovely staff. If only we hadn’t eaten elsewhere during the day. The menu is really exciting. We had a fabulous breakfast. Great atmosphere in this place. We will certainly come here again when we next visit family. The setting is peaceful. The views stunning. The history of the building fascinating. Absolutely loved out short time here.

Stayed here in the hotel last night. We arrived gone 8pm after a very long dive, soon as bags in our room we headed to the dinning area orderd light bite food and I can not fault this. All positive feedback from my self and two teenage boys. Food served in a good time. Staff went above an beyond really friendly. Atmosphere was great. Food was nice. Hotel room again can not fault very specious, clean and facilities was good. Beds super comfy. Breakfast cant really comment as we was leaving as breakfast area opened staff was very polite and offered us takeaway breakfast. We just had a drink and snack to take, Good customer service and considerate. All I can do is rate the Dog in a Doublet, No negatives only positive feedback from my self. Would recommend and if I am ever in the area again this is where I will be staying.
