Cakes by Mary (Long Barn Bakery) in South Cambridgeshire

I got married recently (26th June) and ordered my wedding cake from Mary.Wow!!!!I wasn't disappointed.I asked for the bottom tier to be a Victoria Sponge, the middle tier was a light fruit cake and the top tier was a Lemon drizzle cake.Everyone who had a piece kept complimenting on how tasty and moist the cake wasI gave Mary a piece of ribbon for my colour scheme and she got it just right. The edible roses on the cake were amazing.I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Mary at all.Beautiful cake which made a special day even better.Thank you xx

Mary made us a beautiful, and extra tasty semi-naked 3-tier wedding cake. The bottom tier was hazelnut and chocolate, the top two were dark chocolate and raspberry, and they tasted and looked divine! We received so many compliments from our guests about the cake, I really cannot recommend Mary highly enough.She's very professional, super efficient and excellent at her job - exactly what you need when you're arranging a wedding. Don't settle for people who tell you wedding cake has to be dense and hard in order to support the layers: it's all about having appropriate supports within the layers. As Engineers, we definitely appreciated Mary's explanation of how to build structural support within the cake, and it meant we had a beautiful, tasty, light & fluffy cake for our wedding. From the many cake tastings we went to, Mary was definitely the best!It's been almost a week and we're still not sick of the cake, I'm actually craving more of it...

Mary made both our wedding cake and the cake for our son’s 1st birthday. She was attentive for detail and did an amazing job!We will certainly go back on the next ‘big day’ !

5 star service from Mary, she's fab.When i got in touch with her about my wedding she was very friendly and speedy at getting back to me.We arranged an appointment for me to come in and get an idea about what i would like as i had no idea!Mary was very patient and talked me through lots of ideas and showed me examples of other peoples cakes. Not only that, i got to try some amazing pieces of cake with an array of different flavors! As my partner could not come to the appointment, Mary let me take samples of all the flavors home with me, which i thought was very good and so did the hubby! Communication was fantastic throughout the whole process! I went to pick up the cake the day before my wedding and i was totally shocked at how beautiful it was, it was exactly what i pictured in my head and more!Everyone thought our cake was lovely and quirky on the day, people couldn't stop taking pictures of it. I have kept the figures on the top which Mary told me how to preserve and look after long term. the cake was so delicious and froze really well too, which meant we could carry on enjoying the cake for the following months but didn't last for long as it was too nice to leave in the freezer! Everything was so good i have just asked Mary to do my husbands 30th Birthday cake!Fab Fab FAB!! DON'T LOOK ANYWHERE ELSE.. Thank you so much Mary x

Mary made a fabulous cake for my Mum's 70th birthday. I told her exactly what I wanted the cake to look like, and Mary exceeded my expectations. My Mum was so thrilled with it, that she didn't want to cut it. It took a bit of persuading on the evening of her party to get her to cut the cake. The response we had about the cakes look and taste was very positive. Will definitely call on Mary again if I need another cake. Many thanks.

PresentationThe woman is an absolute artist !We asked for a 3D cake of a specific cartoon character and the cake Mary made us was THE genuine article.2. QualityAfter the family and friends get over their hesitation to cut into something so beautifully made, the cake itself is super tasty and equally as importantly the sponge is soo good that overindulging doesnt leave you feeling heavy3. ServiceNaturally we want the cake details to be just right and this can lead to a lot of questions. Mary was kind and patient and the whole interaction was very comfortable 😊If youre anything like me (you've been searching through all the bakers and cake pictures online and reviews to find exactly the right one and want value for money) look no further. Trust me , I'm a dr 😄 but more relevantly I am a happy customer of a cake by Mary that made both the kids and adults very happy.

An excellent experience, I've been using Mary's Long Barn Bakery for the past four years for my sons birthday, I travel a two hour round trip just because she's the best in the Cambridgeshire area.Mary keep up the good work!Colin
