Carpenter's Arms in South Cambridgeshire

We stopped off here for lunch. We had the ploughman's which was very well done, a large portion and service great. The owners were extremely friendly bringing some toys out for our one year old to play with. It's a nice old pub with interesting features - recommend a visit.

Very welcoming and informative hosts. Great Crafty locally brewed beer and a low alcohol 2.5 pint available. Fabulous taste and very refreshing.

Good food. Very quiet on the night we went. Like others have said, the behaviour of the proprietors was a bit strange. Hurried us up to order our food at 7.45 "because we have someone else coming after you you see"... There were three tables occupied in our area which had 12 tables in total and very few people in the bar! But forewarned is forearmed and the food is worth the slightly unusual hospitality!

Nice beer, food was slightly overpriced. I had pork belly, with red cabbage that was far too sweet and overpowered the pork which was not freshly cooked and tasted re-heated. The other downside was the only other veg was mash, which I exchanged for roast potatoes, though these where rather cold and the dish was in desperate need of more veg to cut through the oversweet cabbage and pork. Not worth £15. Decor in our area was tired and didnt feel at a level the food was priced at. Not planning a return, website looks far better than pub and restaurant is.

There is no French food in this pub. The menu is very limited and no effort had even been made to source nice burgers though it was mainly burgers on the menu. The chips were terrible.

A lonely Traveller fallen upon this tavern, for sustenance, drink and apple pie. The landlord was friendly, pleasant and forth coming, with 2 course set menu, drink and a take out. Will replenish my energy in tavern again.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Food selection was a bit limited, simple but nice, not bad.

Friendly and casual with absolutely delicious food and drink. Great value, hidden gem. Haven't enjoyed a meal this much in years.
