"In December 2020, in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, a time when nothing seems to make sense, Simon & Samantha were approached to see if they would take on The Ickleton Lion. Any sensible person would run away but, in the spirit of Del Boy “He who dares wins Rodney. This time next year we’ll be millionaires” Simon & Samantha accepted the challenge. We love this building, it's a proper old fashioned village pub nestled in the heart of a lovely semi rural community. As any good pub should, the Lion has an extensive range of beers, wines & enough Gins to keep the most fervent drinker engaged. We only use locally sourced fresh ingredients to create great quality home cooked dishes. A community pub in the heart of the community!!!"

Great pub with friendly locals and staff. Typical village pub and is dog friendly.Would of rated higher but was a bit disappointing yesterday when they ran out of real ale and Guinness. Felt like poor planning considering it was opening day of the six nations and only 5pm on a Saturday.Hopefully just a one off

Went in here whilst looking for a place for lunch with two young grandchildren. Could not have been more accommodating. The food was excellent especially the batter on the fish. Will definitely put this on our country pub list to return to.

It was nice we sat in the garden and the staff were very attentive. My only negative was that the small square plates didn't look like I was getting value for money. But the food was lovely and I left full. Just change the plates guys

Found this just by chance, absolutely brilliant nothing was too much trouble. Had two grandchildren with us, they were welcomed without any issues. Food was great children's portions just right.Will definitely try and get back again.

Superb pub, lovely gardens if it's sunny, snug interior if it's not. The (newly-married) owners were fabulous and attentive hosts. We shall return!

Love the Lion. Had a midweek lunch a few weeks ago and came back for a Sunday meal. The menu is a little different but of the same high quality. We had a venison burger and the chicken Sunday roast. Both were just wonderful. Finished off by sharing a banana Eaton mess, a quite lovely variation on the usual. Very, very nice (but I'd recommend the banana goes all the way down).We ate inside but there is a very pretty and spacious beer garden. The service is great and the owners very friendly and attentive. Two mains, a sweet and three drinks cost under £60 which was great value for the quality. Will definitely be back.
