The Orchard Tea Garden in South Cambridgeshire

My third visit here in 20 years. Very nostalgic place. The cakes and scones taste better every time. The seating is not only deck chairs now. There is water freely available.The cakes look amazing on display. The queue to purchase your food is always long. Trays are provided. The scones are ginormous… so many different types of Jams! Strawberry jam is my go to, but I also tried the apricot jam which exceeded my expectations entirely.The atmosphere is relaxed and calm. It is a very family friendly place- with lots of retirees enjoying the good weather and excellent quinine.Lunch foods a no longer served after 3pm.You normally pay for parking but as the ticket machine was broken- no one had to pay this time!It would not be a visit to Cambridge without a visit to the orchard in Grantchester

Lovely spot to have a traditional afternoon or cream tea in the Orchard.Free parking and bike parking is great with indoor and outdoor seating.The queue is always huge so expect to wait, but it is totally worth it.I do think they need a few more chairs and tables to keep up with custom especially at weekends.The scones are absolutely gorgeous and a great size for the money with the jam and cream.

Scones are impeccable, to the extent that thinking about coming here for the scone can save me from cravings for scones at many other places (such as coffee chains).Ham and Cheddar Panini Melt was surprisingly tasty. The bread was crisp and thin (less carbs for me) and the cheese melts perfectly on the ham. The crisps were really crunchy.Coffee from automated machine. Nothing really to comment on without the injection of some human spirit. Not bad. Tea from Twining tea bags, which is a little sad for a tea garden, isn’t it?Food and drink is quite overpriced here, but it’s worth paying for the environment at the lovely and relaxing garden.

I've never been anywhere like this before. Free parking, find one of the outdoor tables, nestled between the trees and perch comfortably on one of the deck chairs with a beer or cup of tea and snacks from the tea room. Great after a walk along the river.

Possibly the best tea rooms we've ever been to,There was a long queue to get served but it was bright sunlight and warm, there was an abundance of conversation in the line to eavesdrop on, the menues are posted outside so you can choose before getting to the servery saving alot of time. As well as eating outside on some amazing deckchairs you could also eat indoors but we chose to eat in the garden.We purchased a large pot of tea, some sandwiches and some cake, the sandwiches came with salad and chrisps and everything was excellent, the gardens are immense with tables and deck chairs dotted everywhere, although it was crowded we had no problem finding a table and chairs some people threw a blanket on the floor and picnicked.Toilets were very clean as was the entire site.There are wild birds and ducks who would love to share, they are no problem.There are signs up informing everyone that they are in a wild space and bees and wasps may be around, i saw none.Had a walk across the meadows to the river,We could have time traveled back to the 1930s the whole experience was so peaceful i will come back

Lovely place to have afternoon tea or a light snack. Does get very busy so you'll have to be patient at these times, just sitting in the garden is well worth it.

Food very tasty had a ploughman’s lunch too much cheese and not enough salad no cucumber and no tomato could of been better fresh nice bread but very cheap ham I will go again but I will not be having the ploughman’s I’ll try something else

Lovely environment and fabulous large, warm plain or fruit scones. Free parking. Dog friendly in garden with access to a river walk or big field nearby. Only dropped a star as service a bit slow and inattentive when we went (early Summer 2021) See menu pic for prices, etc. Sorry, 1st menu pic didn't post well and can't delete!

Pretty cafe with bucket loads of history and apple trees. Many cakes and sweet treats are on the menu to try the whole day. Then you have a lunch menu with more lovely choices. The only downside is the busy hours but once you make it here, you'll realise why it is so popular

oh it’s stunning here to start with. the scenery and the garden wow. id recommend eating outside as sitting on a deck chair really does bring a fun sense to dining. the food was so good and came promptly. the baguette was delicious and i really enjoyed what else came on the plate and overall the dish looked very presentable. will definitely be coming back
