I had a perfectly pleasant stay at the Red Lion.Check-in was very easy and very friendly. In fact overall the staff were lovely and friendly - I couldn't fault them! The room was spacious, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The hotel needs some renovations. The windows where a little drafty and the radiators in my room where not working but I had been provided with some oil filled electric heaters that warmed the room quickly and adequately. The WiFi was free - and quick enough to stream a movie - and the car parking was free.Breakfast was servered in the Holiday Inn on the other side of the car park - which was no big deal and the quality of the breakfast is what you'd expect from a hotel chain.I would stay there again happily for a n overnight business trip. For the cost of the room, compared to the other local hotel chains, it was absolutely more than adequate and I had a very enjoyable stay.

Should be renamed Grumpy Lion. Let's start with the positive, the food was good. Sadly the welcome, the ridiculously high drink price's and being spoken to in such a highly negative manner was incredibly disatisfying. I can honestly say I have never been treated so poorly by what must have been the bar manager. I wasn't the only one to receive such a negative response, I witnessed eye rolling being done to other customers. We stayed in the Holiday Inn next door, they were very apologetic. I hope the lovely bar staff move on and get themselves out of what must be a horrendous environment to work in.

Erm, for a supposedly 4 start hotel, whoever inspected this place obviously didn't try the food! I didn't stay here and am pretty relived if the food standard is anything to go by.

Expensive and difficult. The rooms are very small and crooked, floors and bed are not level, maybe appeals if you like quirky. The corridor beams are extremely low and the door pictured was probably under 5ft high.Last orders in the bar at 10.15, I had to argue to get a drink at 10.14. The included breakfast is across the road at the (was either a premier or holiday) Inn, I'll stay there next time.

Decent pub, bar and restaurant. Right next to Whittlesford Parkway railway station. Decent outdoor area in the summer. Also held a couple of business meetings here, not sure about the hotel as I've never used it. But convenient if you want easy access to the M11, Cambridge, etc.

The old part of this hotel is lovely, comfortable rooms with character, small but adequate bathroom. There are no staff in this area you have to go across to the modern larger hotel opposite to book in. We were told by a young lady that we couldn't book in at 12 noon because the room wasn't ready but we were not offered to check in and to leave our bags at the hotel . When we came to book in later in the evening we had a gentleman who clearly new customer service and couldn't do more,so nice. Breakfast was available as a buffet in the new building in the morning, inclusive of price. The train station is directly across the road from the hotel, you can see the platform from your bedroom window but not too noisy. A convenient hotel for going into Cambridge as only a couple of train stops away.

We loved our time at the Red Lion. The room was very nice, we had a bath in the main room which wasn't very ergonomic, but was nice to relax in all the same. It was a little hot in the room as the heating was on too late, we let reception know and straight away they turned the heating off, brought three fans and for good measure some towels and other things. The breakfast was good and the staff were always very helpful 👍

I was in a bit of a rush to book a place fairly close to Stansted airport so perhaps i did not do my research well enough. I saw the "700 year old coaching Inn" tag line on Booking.com and liked the idea of staying in a village pub and being able to sit at the bar with a pint in the evening and chat with the owners in a cozy environment. That was perhaps a bit naive of me.Sadly no village environment and it is actually sandwiched between a business park and a Holiday Inn. Anyway i arrived after a six hour drive from Devon that included the M25 in rush hour! I was tired and was looking forward to unwinding. Upon entering it looked like there was some kind of party or event on and the one girl behind the bar was too busy to attend to me. After a 10 minute wait eventually someone took my details and gave me my key.Room was very small but comfortable bed. Tiny shower area with toilet (cannot be described as a bathroom). Very bad wifi that kept dropping out.I ventured downstairs for a drink. It was okay but not brilliant. Breakfast is over the road in the Holiday Inn. Breakfast perhaps deserved a 3 or 4 star review. I would not stay here again.

Worst hotel and food and service i have experienced in a long time, not one to complain but i had an issue with the radiator in my room and i was advised i had go to the holiday in myself to request the engineer to fix it (the room was very poor and the shower was shocking did not work properly at all very disappointing). This was completed and then i ordered a meal, fish and chips, it was terrible the chips were more like crisps and horrible, and not once did a member of staff come to check if my meal was ok, in the end i gave up and left the restaurant as i was not best pleased. The following day i decided to unfortunately dine at the restaurant again ( bad choice ) and decided to order the Gammon and requested the boiled potatoes. The meal came out and the potatoes were rock hard and in edible, i don't often complain at all but this was so bad i felt compelled to complain ( first ever review ). no one came to check my meal was ok and and when eventually the waitress came over to take my plate i raised my concerns and was totally ignored. This was a business trip paid for by my company , but i will not be staying again at the Red Lion, as i left the building there was rain coming in from the roof. 19/20 October.

All I can say is that this was the worst hotel I have ever visited. The place was absolutely filthy, the staff were rude, disrespectful and had a nasty attitude. I was shocked. Encountered a few issues with the staff, not only were they very rude but they were always gossiping, swearing and shouting with one another behind the bar even when children were around. Absolutely horrendous. Please do stay away from this place, I’m surprised it hasn’t been shut down. Only gave it a one star I was not able to select no stars.
