The Restaurant at Caistor Hall hotel in South Norfolk

Disappointed to show up on Valentine's day to be given a much smaller, restricted set menu with two starter options (one vegan, one fish), three main options (meat, fish, vegan) and only one option for desert. No consideration has been given for dietary requirements such as pregnant women, gluten free or allergies which caused complications and further reduced choice. This information should have been on the website, it's 2022 not the 90s. If we had known this we would have chosen somewhere else.Decor was lovely in the lobby but severely lacking elsewhere, made me wonder if the nicely decorated areas were for people who had paid more? Not sure, as this area was empty when we arrived but we were hurried past it into a bland area with children eating - not ideal.The staff were polite and the food was good (small portions), but additional items were added to our bill which we did not order. Overall we have had much better experiences dining out.If you have a nice car, don't take it to this hotel. The potholes on the driveway will destroy your suspension. Something seriously needs done about these.

Amazing stay at Caistor Hall, the venue was lovely and the staff were all really nice and the food was superb!My hat really goes off to Dan who went above and beyond for us and really made a long lasting impression! Dan will go far in life, this world needs more Dans! See you next year Dan!

Had a lovely night at Caistor Hall, food was amazing. The staff are lovely, especially Dan. The new waitress was excellent even though it was her first shift she was absolutely professional. I would encourage anybody to stay here. We are looking forward to returning when the spa is built.

First time I’ve been for Sunday lunch for a few years during which they’ve had an extensive update and change of ownership. This was definitely the best food I’ve had there and they’ve done a great job with the refurbishment. I particularly enjoyed the vanilla cheesecake.

We went in Dec 2021 absolutely loved it. Staff were very friendly and seemed happy to be there, the place has had a revamp. The menu had a great choice. Loved the prawn cocktail starter. Food was fantastic..will definitely be going back and would definitely recommend.

Totally ruined our wedding anniversary..I'd been told of the refurbishment so had high Hope's, big mistake.Staff didn't seem to know what to do, first waitress came with a grubby jug of water, advice, clean your dishwasher! Old water deposits all over the jug, the waitress poured our water and I straight away noticed quickly that my glass had a sizable chip on the rim!, however she had walked away by then but I managed to get the attention of a young lady that looked like she was just standing in the door of the restaurant daydreaming, I pointed out the chip, she apologised and promptly brought me another glass, although it was very warm so no chilled water for me, we had been sitting at our table for quite some while by then with no offer of being able to order food or drinks, again I managed to get the attention of the same young lady and requested to order a bottle of wine, which she promptly wrote down, she was about to walk away without taking our food order, my husband asked if she could take our order, no, she said her colleague would be straight over to take our Food order, at least 10 minutes later a young man appeared with a waistcoat that hadn't seen an iron. I placed my order requested a small portion roast, he stared at me as if I was completely mad and after thinking about it grumpily told me that I could have a child portion which is fine with me, my husband placed his order. After again waiting a considerable amount of time a very nice young man, the only staff member wearing a mask I might add, he brought over some torn up pieces of stodgy bread ! Why? We were or hopefully would be having our wedding anniversary lunch, very strange. I had ordered roast leg of lamb and requested mint sauce, come on chief, picking fresh mint, chopping it up and mixing it with goodness what is NOT my idea of mint sauce and wrecked the food it touched as it was so runny. Oh well I said to my husband as I started to eat mine, I then very quickly followed with 'don't wait for the vegetables, the food is tepid'., he tried his and it was exactly the same, by then we were absolutely starving and just had to eat was had been put in front of us as by then it was so late, I requested some extra gravy thinking it would warm our Food up, the waitress brought over a jug of gravy, holding it with a napkin saying to be careful as it was so hot, great we thought, my husband picked up the jug of very hot gravy, looked at me and said "this is like warm!", honestly I ask you!By then waiting staff began to clear tables around us, ours included saying, "I can take these now" as she took away our salt and pepper cellars!Then to our absolute astonishment the two waitresses began to argue regarding if the table that one of them had been cleaned was not up to standard! Right the one plus, my husband had the topside of beef which he said was superb albeit tepid, lucky for him! Goodness knows what animal my 'lamb's came from because it certainly did not taste of lamb! Main meal £16.00, I had a very small roast with no Yorkshire pudding but still got charged £9! So, I don't know if our meal was such a tepid disappointment because we didn't arrive until 13:50 as the kitchen stops Service at 15:00? But it totally ruined our day.

Finally Caistor hall has the owners it needs! Brilliant dinner, wine, and service. A few exciting changes to be made internally over the next few months which was explained to us by our waiter so we will come back again soon. Thanks Brasteds

We booked last minute and was struggling to find somewhere to accommodate us all and our dog.I called the Hotel and booked with Becky who was very lovely and helpful.Property was stunning beautiful location and service was also good.Rooms was lovely too.Only thing I would say is that in my opinion this hotel should be completely dog friendly as having 32 acres of land this would appeal to a lot of dog owners.And in the restaurants the dogs wasn’t allowed for us our dog cannot be left alone so we had to book into other places to eat.Had he been allowed the hotel would’ve got at least another £300 from us .Also there wasn’t any air conditioning when it got hot we had to open windows which is fine but being not far from main road it got quite noisy.

What a great setting and building with very friendly staff. Just popped in for a quick visit while driving to another venue. We will be back for lunch or dinner as the restaurant and menu also look great. Also has facilities for weddings and events which all looked to be first class. It's a hidden treasure I would highly recommend 👍
