An original master! I love this place! The ale is always good and an great variety of food on the menu and whatever you choose it's prepared and cooked to perfection. Lovely.

Food was lovely . The staff were so polite . Stayed here for work purposes. Rooms are comfy and the breakfast that comes with the room outstanding. Mark the owner goes above and beyond . We were going to miss breakfast due to leaving early for work and mark sent us off each day with a lovely pack lunch free of charge . Outstanding service

This little place is a real gem in Englands rural crown. Its a bit like going back in time to the way things should be. Quiet, clean and friendly, our stay was everything we hoped it would be and more. The home made cooked food is legendary ( the pie and mash is epic ) and worthy of any top chef. The only negative is we couldnt stay longer. No hesitation in recomending this place to anyone.

Stumbled across this country pub at the weekend as we were walking from Brockdish to Homersfield. We decided on a well earn cuppa tea, coffee and couple of coke's. Some crisps which were lovely. The pub is nice, the staff member that served us I found rude and threw the bill on table. She could learn to smile. If you don't like your job find another as that made us feel not welcome.

A delightful restaurant, bar and hotel in middle of Country Village (hard to come by). Had 3 course excellent lunch in comfortable surroundings. Owners are friendly and know how to make you feel welcome. Food homemade and delicious. Definitely recommend.

This is my local, so I haven't stayed overnight (well, not in a room at least!). The bar staff are extremely polite and friendly, their beer (they tend to host guest ales from local breweries such as Peters) is always good. The restaurant food is excellent and exceptional for the price. There is a cosy comfy seat area too for the weary. It may be a little out of the way in Mendham but it is a rural area and the accompanying river walks are simply glorious.

This place is the slow beating heart of the village. I stayed near Mendham for work and visited a few times for coffee and snacks and for a Sunday roast. Dan the barman was friendly and polite and was very accommodating when I brought 15 colleagues for Sunday dinner when the place only holds about 50 and certainly only gets about 20 or so at any one time. Hearty and comforting is the best way to describe the whole experience. Pop in if you are near. Just not on Mondays. They're closed on Mondays.

Great food with lots on the plate, great service and a lovely clean welcoming establishment. They even decorated my table knowing it was my birthday which was a heart warming touch. We'll definitely go back and happy to recommend.
