Alebro in Southend-on-Sea

Had a lovely meal last night at Alebro. Excellent food and great service.

I booked based on previous reviews as we were visiting relatives from afar and we were not disappointed!The food was amazing and the ambience was lovely, attentive staff to boot.We are just sorry that we live 95 miles away as otherwise this gem would be a regular haunt for us.Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Came here with my husband and friends and its wonderful. 1st time for me and will definately be returning. Excellent service and food incredible. Recommend to some other friends who went last night and also loved it. Can not fault. Thank you.

Great food, superb service, very friendly staff.

4.5 stars if I could.Service was lovely, very homey feel/conversational. Venue is simplistic and small size - with great music playing. Food was good - the fish platter was a good size, the steak was huge (but not my favourite - too much oil for me). Other dishes at the table looked great, think I just made the wrong choice with the sirloin.Nice selection of wines also.

We loved the ambience, very friendly staff and great service. Music was just right - we had Sunday roasts which were perfect and they happily brought an extra jug of gravy - my only one negative is that all of our vegetables were raw - I guess microwave- heated but basically uncooked and I couldn't even get my knife through the spouts! But other than that it was really lovely!

We've lived around the corner from Alebro for years and never been - big mistake. The food is simply exceptional and it turns out Wednesday is bring your own night! Great atmosphere will definitely be back.

Excellent friendly service and delicious food. Nice decor and there is a small bar that you can sit at before and after a meal to enjoy a drink. And there is plenty of on-street parking right outside. Thoroughly recommend!

A safe choice, but too safe for us.Food good and well-cooked, but main courses very safe and a little bland on flavour. The exception to this was the chorizo Scotch egg starter which was great. Wine also just not very adventurous. Decor was tastefully relaxed and we really liked the chilled-out 90s tunes.For a fifth star I'd have liked to see some bolder menu offerings, heating in the toilet (which were freezing!), coats taken on arrival and a chocolate with our coffees. Oh and being called something other than "madam" which just grates in this relaxed bistro setting.
