Excellent place to recharge. Came across Anke’s by chance. Felt a little weary going in & came out feeling refreshed. Wonderfully chilled atmosphere created mainly by the furnishings, friendly staff & music. Had a very tasty salad with warm sourdough bread & a lovely coffee… hit the spot! Thank you! I was a visitor in the area but if I’m ever back I’ll definitely pop in!

A lovely café with a great community feel. Evening events are regularly organised and bring life to Westcliff. I love working there whilst having a tasty breakfast. The staff is absolutely lovely and very friendly.

Because of the toilet I would not rate more than 1 star anyway (awful, outside, cold single 'toilet') but coffee- as you can see- with lumps of soya milk is not the best either. I won't be coming back.

Anke is a lovely, warm-hearted lady from Saxony and she has created a cosy and welcoming lounge where you can relax, people watch and enjoy excellent teas and coffees (I've fussy, these are genuinely excellent) as well as a local specialty from Dresden: Eierschecke. This a soft cake made with a layer of sponge, quark and egg/vanilla pudding. Like a light baked cheesecake. REALLY delicious.Eierschecke is an odd name for a cake too: it comes from a kind of thick belted coat in the 14th century that looked like it was in 3 layers, above the belt, the belt and below. Like the cake. There's a pony called Schecke for this resemblence too.Anyway! Back to the cafe! They've an upstairs room that can be hired out and they're starting to do music and crafting courses. I think it'll grow into a great venue in itself and a cultural hub so the more we support it the better. It has a rear, open garden too. Mostly flat, so reasonably wheelchair accessible. Disabled parking beside co-op very close by. Still think the bathrooms need some work, but they're only setting up there, so I'll give them a pass on that. Overall, I'm looking forward to relaxing there a few times over the coming Autumn/Winter and eating that amazing cake!

Jazz night at Ankes was lovely. The band and company was thoroughly enjoyable. If you have missed live music I highly recommend this as an evening out.

Absolutely loved our visit to Anke’s. It was completely unplanned and just popped in beachside it looked so warm quirky and welcoming. The customer service was excellent and the stew was genuine of the best i’ve had. Can’t wait to visit again.
