Bourgee in Southend-on-Sea

Came for breakfast. The service was good, and the food was also good too. Nice and clean, and reasonably priced considering your in an airport.The breakfasts were quite small. But we only wanted a quick bite anyway. Thank you.

It's OK. Could be so much better. The atmosphere and food are both lovely, but... The wine selection is shocking and it's hard to find a decent bottle without spending over 60 pounds, which I feel is a tiny bit excessive for a local restaurant. The house wines by the glass are undrinkable. Such a shame because it could be excellent. Service was OK. I think the staff need educating on what the food and wines taste like some that they would understand questions asked.

Came here for my girlfriends birthday in November and was very impressed.Food is great, presentation even greater. The staff are very helpful and gave suggestions on what is the most suiting drink to go with my meal. Without even telling them, they have prepared a little plate with a desert and small decoration on it to wish my girlfriend a happy birthday. While the price is fairly steep, you do receive the customer service you deserve.Would recommend for anyone in Southend to try it out!

Nice looking place. Decor nicely done. My favourite dish was the malbec risotto. I had mozzarella balls to start and it was pleasant enough. I would go again.

Had afternoon tea there and it was lovely. Not the traditional scones and sarnies.. take a look at the menu!

First visit! Went there for a meal but you can go just for drinks. Good menu selection and the food was well presented and tasty. Children were clearly welcome and the staff were attentive. Medium pricing. However, the lighting is so subdued it was difficult to see the menu and the piped music was a bit too loud.

So having looked forward to a meal at this restaurant after seeing such great reviews I was sorely disappointed.The starter was great but the main was obviously a challenge to prepare having had to be sent back for a 3rd time with part needing to be changed.Myself and my dining partner only has tiny changes ie no sauce which apparently was too much for the kitchen staff to cope with. This left us feeling flat after the meal we had such high expectations of.Having made the complaint the staff became attentive.
