Cafe 709 in Southend-on-Sea

Emma and Andy are fab cooks and host.We’ve enjoyed coming here for breakfast and lunch for a few years now, and loved their Afternoon Teas during lockdown.Their breakfast is to die for, certainly get the 709! Their panini sandwiches are also delicious, perfectly cooked. Everything is freshly cooked, very high quality produce. The bacon is very thick, none of that slimy supermarket stuff you can get!Price is very reasonable too for what you get. Plus, Emma also makes the most amazing cakes so you can take something sweet home for later!

Popped in here for some lunch today after a friend recommended it to us. Can’t believe we haven’t been here before!We ordered a tuna panini and a ham & cheese panini with some curly fries to share. Absolutely amazing food, really reasonable prices and super friendly staff!Had a little chat with the lovely people behind the counter when we went up to pay and they told us that in the summer they have a beautiful garden out the back and we should come by for a Pimms or a beer, which we 100% will!Bought a couple of cakes to takeaway and enjoy later Our new favourite stop for lunch now by a mile. Our office at Chiddicks Homes is just across the road to Cafe 709. We were so pleased that they are open again and looking at the menu we felt spoilt for choice. We ordered from them yesterday, the food was amazing, well presented and went down a treat.

Had breakfast in this cafe today with my daughter. My breakfast (traditional bacon, egg, sausage, beans, mushrooms, toast) was the best cafe breakfast I've had in years. My daughters omelette, with ham, onion and cheese looked fabulous and she assures me it was (and as she's weight conscious it was cooked with fry lite). Service was 1st class as were standards and friendliness. The price for above food, + 1 extra hash brown and hot drinks was £17.00 and worth every penny. We WILL definitely be going back.
