Costa Coffee in Southend-on-Sea

Friendly staff, nice extra hot coffee and a bit of people watching for an hour..

My place to sit and look like a sophisticated woman with her life together, when actually I'm sitting playing Pokémon Go and contemplating which video game to buy next. Love it here it's very cosy and the staff and friendly. The food and drink is also fab!

Coffee is lovely and I love the gluten free brownie (main reason I go) but the service is shocking. Put vanilla in my latte instead of my daughter's hot chocolate and said "is it ok to have that and I'll just add vanilla to the hot chocolate?" Errr no, or I would have ordered it with vanilla! Toilets disgusting as usual, no change there.

Do Costa train all their staff to be rude on purpose ! Second time I’ve used this Costa & the staff have had bad attitude. Went in at 3pm today all the front of the shop was shut off with chairs turned round, no where to sit as the only seating area was full so was told I could get takeaway or sit outside even though it was raining, was looking for a rest stop to feed my baby & I had a voucher I wanted to use, both women very rude & bad attitude, rolling eyes at each other when I asked how the voucher worked & what drinks I could get with it, absolutely disgraceful behaviour trying to make people feel stupid because they can’t be bothered to explain or help which is there job, I will be avoiding all Costas from now on the staff in Cafe Nero further down the high street where so much more friendly & accommodating.

A recent face-lift has meant the cafe is refreshed but it does seem as though the Costa brand needs to think more about the experience... we were told at 16:15 we would be served coffee in takeaway cups as they were closing at 17:00.

Good service and clean store but non of the staff was wearing the hair net or the beard net.I hope on my next visit they will wear it.

New manager is arrogant and useless. Service is terrible, coffee is nearly always luke warm. In additional they charge 30p more for a flat white than advertised on the board. Wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been paying cash! Get your act together or I'll go elsewhere! Place has really gone downhill. Water leaking ceilings, disgusting toilets and not that long since refit.

We visited 10mins before closing time hence we were offered a take away cup only. That was fine. At the closing time however we were very strongly encouraged to leave and more or less 'shooed' out the door in a rather abrupt manner. No apology or friendliness, very bad customer service.

The most disgusting customer service, it was approaching 4.30 and one rude woman with blonde hair, shouting CLOSED as we are sitting down. She literally was so rude shocking myself and the other 2 tables in there, a young boy walked in and she got in his face CLOSED! absolutely vile the way she spoke and want to take this complaint further!! No ‘sorry guys were closing up now please finish your drinks’ just screaming in peoples faces that they are CLOSED. I hope she knows how she ruined our day. Hot chocolate for the record was also poor quality

absolutely RANCID, showed up and got put standing in a line, not fault on there end but got me already quite agitated. Finally got in and was standing in line when i saw MULTIPLE fruit flies crawling across the syrups and all over the machines, right put me off it did. The photo i inserted was one of MANY that i took. Sanctions need to be put in place for this, there’s absolutely no excuse for this horrendous affair. Naturally, i know flies are normal however this is a place where multiple people dine and i do not want bacteria and diseases spreading amongst this time. DO BETTER COSTA🤬
