Flour and Spoon - Artisan Bakery & Cafe in Southend-on-Sea

Flour and Spoon do the BEST pork pies. They are really delicious. The bread is great too and I really like that they offer diary products from Bradfields Farm.

I have a complaint to make about this bakery. They gave my little dog some sourdough bread this morning and now I can’t eat sourdough without her begging for some more. It’s actually ruining my love of sourdough 😆Here she is breaking through that lovely sourdough crust!!

Superb. Best expresso in town. Great crema. Superb cheese muffins. A real wake up call. Dogs allowed. Water for dogs outside. A must stop for me. Friendly staff. Cakes to die for.

Thank you to Flour and Spoon for another delicious cake ordered by my mother in law for my wife’s birthday. A Victoria sponge baked to order with passion fruit cream, fresh peach and raspberries. It was absolutely delicious and everyone who indulged thoroughly enjoyed the cake!

Rolled in early for the best expresso and a great fruit scone. A great spot to wake up and smell the fresh bread. Expresso had a head on it so creamy it clung to the rim of the cup. Dogs allowed. Cakes that look like my mother used to make. I bought a seeded bagel to take home. So glad we have this shop in Leigh. Coming back.

My first visit to Flour & Spoon. I am very impressed. The lady staff member was charming; warm and welcoming. I wanted a quick bite to take away and was torn for choice… The huge homemade sausage rolls in the warm cabinet looked delicious (next time 😋). I eventually settled on a homemade pork pie - pretty big - about the size of a large orange. The lady kindly cut it into quarters for me and packed it in a recyclable card box. She offered me their loyalty card - after ten visits get a free pastry. The pork pie was probably the best I’ve ever had. The pastry was a little crispy, crumbly, a little jelly, but not much, mainly lots of really tasty meat that almost completely filled the pastry case - none of those disappointing gaps full of nothing. As I was paying I noticed that they sell lots of other goodies that you might not expect in a bakery - home grown rhubarb for example. I’m looking forward to visiting again. Next time I’ll eat in and take my time…. I’ve promised myself a cake - they look delicious!

Disappointed to hear they're actively enforcing medical apartheid. Shame that in 2022 some businesses are discriminating against their local community voluntarily. This will probably not end well for them and implore them to reconsider.

Waiting for a bus just outside this establishment, thought I'd pop in for a cake or two, so glad I did, the service was spot on, greeted with a lovely smile and a hello from the guy working in the store, I ended up buying two delicious custard tarts and a slab of bread pudding, that bread pudding is something else, it was perfect in every way. They sell an array of beautiful breads and pastries, all at a affordable prices, Give it a try, I dont think you'll be disappointed :-)

It's a bakery but it also serves good coffee too. The owner is very enthusiastic, he offered me a piece of his pizza while I was in there, I had to decline because I'd already eaten too much pizza that day!his enthusiasm is reflected in his bakery, I understand that expansion plans are in place and I wish them every success, I look forward to trying his other bakeries in the area when they open.
