On arrival the place looked clean but on closer inspection it had webs almost on all light and ceilings fittings where you should eat under it.Also we ordered 4 items of which 1 item had to be sent back because it was so cold it was unreadable. The chef did however make a new one but was further delayed by 15 mins.Overall the food was good apart from the above mentioned issues.

The 4 of us thought we would try this ā€˜restaurant’ as it implied it was donar kebab with a difference. It wasn’t and it was more service with indifference as they clearly had no interest in serving their seated customers so we joined the takeaway queue. Two of us had brought cash and it was card only. Two of the orders were wrong. As we had booked a table I had assumed it served alcohol which it didn’t. The chain had clearly spent a lot of money on the decor which was wasted as over time nobody will bother eating in and it will just be another kebab takeaway.

Original review (1 star, 20/6/22):I've had a few experiences with GDK southend before, because I really enjoy the food (when I get it) but my ordering experience this evening in particular has prompted me to write this review. As a history, in the past, both when ordering through 3rd party apps and doing click and collect through the GDK website, the order has been incomplete. One time, when ordering via their click and collect, I was half way home by the time they called to inform me they'd realised they hadn't put everything in the bag and I had to turn back to collect the rest of my order. However, this evening is far and beyond the worst experience I've had trying to get food from them. I ordered, a couple of hours in advance, to click and collect an order through the GDK website at 9:15, we'll within the shops opening hours. However, when I took the time to drive in to town and walk up to the restaurant, I arrived at the door to the restaurant to find it locked, with all the staff inside, visible through the glass front, sitting at tables, and a couple of them waving me away, assumedly to say they're closed. I tried to call the restaurant's number to work out what was going on, or to request a refund if they couldn't provide my food, but the calls were being rejected and the answerphone message states that "No-one is able to take your call at the moment, and you can't leave a message, so please call back later.". The result was the same on each of the following few calls I made, each seemingly manually rejected. I've submitted a complaint through the GDK website now and hope I can be provided with a refund and recompense soon, as I wasn't able to pick up my order, and will edit to update if possible.Update (06/07/22):Okay then, it's been a couple of weeks to get this sorted thanks to some awkward missed calls and returning those calls turning up the god awful "No-one is able to take your call at the moment, and you can't leave a message, so please call back later." answerphone message. Eventually, however, we got to a point where I was invited to go into the site and to receive a full refund and offered an apology in the form of a free meal. Thankfully, eating this meal has reminded me of why, despite the customer service being pretty awful at times, I've continued to order from GDK Southend. The food is absolutely delicious and honestly some of the best in town, which makes it a shame that customer service is a little bit of a let down in comparison. Many thanks to the restaurant for accommodating the refund, and I'm sure I'll be eating here again soon.

Hello to people who loves German doner. I want to share very bad experience with the kebabs,we came with family eat in and been waiting for the food about 40 min, then food arrives it was only just warm. When I asked them why it was so long they just ignore me and walked away.

First few years it was the best kebab ever, now portions are ridiculously small, even extra meat is the same as regular, if you compare, only difference is the price. Staff is polite but unprofessional, looks like they get confused and doesn’t know what to do after every order, chatting to each other and kitchen staff while people waiting for their order.

First time here today and oh boy it was impressive. The restaurant looks amazing and clean, staff did a fantastic job with my meal.We had the BOSS BOX meal. The store looks so modern and fresh, and while sitting at our table, we could see all the food being prepared from the kitchen. Highly recommended for those who love kebabs of for new comers.

Last time eating here. I once did a collaboration with this brand on a personal level, I was gifted their food and I promoted them on my page. After that, I did order from them a couple of times as I HAD a good experience. They have gone so downhill. The portion sizes are stupidly small, once my box was a quarter full up. Upset my family a few times aswell. DO NOT bother with them anymore. Such a shame to be writing this since we had partnered up in the past but now I only have negative things to say.

The food is very good. If you haven't eaten at a GDK please don't assume that it's anything like the usual filthy, fatty kebabs that only drunk people can eat. These are the other end of the spectrum, clean and healthy and the poppy seed bread is amazing. In this branch the service was a bit slow both times we visited, but not terribly.

I arrived at the store at 1:20pm and was advised the wait for eating in will be 15minutes which was fine by me. My food made its way to my table at 1:55pm . I had ordered a gym box which to my suprise was an extremely small portion and took staff 35minutes to place meat and salad in a box. I don't know the procedure but in my opinion I solely believe eating in customers should be prioritised over deliveries as it only makes sense. They had about 5-6 staff in the store and the majority in the kitchen for some reason work at such a slow pace. I was very unsatisfied with the service .

As I promised to one of the staff today, I will leave my honest review. I can classify myself as a regular customer because I eat at least once per week in GDK. I find the staff cheerful and kind though that they are pretty busy most of the time.I'll leave four stars for two reasons. First, I don't find the extra packaging something that the customers or environment needs. The second concern is regarding the size of the Gymbox. Usually, I order a large Gymbox which in my expectations should be full to the top of the box; however, you do not get the same quantity all the time. So the fact that they are using the same package for ordinary and large Gymbox it's kind of strange. Of course, I'm not the person who will start asking why my box is half full, but sometimes this is what you get for £6.50.
