Golden Friars in Southend-on-Sea

The best fish n chips I have ever had. The fish is like eating a thick piece of meat. The batter is just right. Delicious thick cut chips. The delivery service is very good. Delivered within 30-45 minutes and piping hot. 5 plus stars everytime.

Not what it used to be unfortunately. Waited over 20 mins for chips… from a chippy 🤣

My neighbours organised a fish and chip event on Thursday last week and ordered the fish and chips from Golden Friars, it was absolutely delicious. The service was great, delivered on time and was piping hot. Can't wait to use them again.

Recently moved to the area and thought we would try out our local chippy. I must say we was very impressed. Delicious fish, batter and chips.

BIG IMPROVEMENT 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐👌RENOWN CHIPPY.Very average, everything hot and tasty but that's about it, chips OK batter on fish poor, kebabs OK, chicken is probably the best thing they do, reasonably priced, about right for the area! Everything tastes the same? Must be the oil they use??

Fantastic takeaway. Perfectly cooked chips and lovely saveloys. The customer service is top quality; the staff talk to you and sometimes make you laugh - it makes me look forward to coming in here and order food.

I have been eating from here for a while. Fresh chips, fresh fish, fair prices. Strongly recommended.

The food smelt and looked lovely. Shame it wasn't the same experience when eating it. The chips even although they looked lovely and golden on the outside were undercooked and hard and dry inside. Have had much better !

I love this place! I have a cod special and kebab salad and chilli sauce, homemade Mayonnaise.I get a couple of wraps and create my own shawarma. The food is freshly prepared and presented.This is a popular chippy and just lovely. There are a couple of tables if you're wanting to eat in.Prices are very reasonable the service is just perfect. You'll have to wait a few minutes to get your order if not ready.Great menu including kebabs and various chicken meals as well as your normal chippy menu..

Good quality skinned cod, and decent value for money. Have gone here many times in the past and they always deliver a decent meal. The fish has definitely improved since I first started trying this place out, and unlike most chippies, the fish is skinned,which I know is a big selling point for some people I know.Would definitely recommend.
