Mamataz Mahal Tandoori in Southend-on-Sea

Good service and great food. Friendly staff Set menu gone up massively in price which is disappointing. Used to be around £15 and now £25!

I ordered a meal to be delivered, it arrived early and hot but the lamb in my Lamb Tikka Masala was tough, chewy and inedible didn’t taste like had been anywhere the tandoor oven. Luckily I’d ordered a shami kebab starter which I chopped up to replace the unsatisfactory lamb so at least I got a meal. I was looking forward to visiting but I won’t now and don’t think I’ll order take away again.

Love the food most of the time and regularly order from here. Depending on the chef it can range from average to fantastic but generally is pretty good.

Absolutely amazing food, never used them before. So glad I did. The staff are very welcoming too. Definitely coming back

Horrible customer service! The man who was answering calls in the evening on 15th February is extremely rude and was swearing and shouting at my husband just because he was saying that they have not delivered onions to us. We've ordered it but have not received.The food there was good quality every time but that guy just ruined our impressions about this place.

Ordered through JustEat food make my partner sick. I am pregnant and couldn't eat mine. Food hygiene rating is 2. Chicken saag was very greasy had to pour excess oil off it into a cup. Raita was curdled and inedible. Reported to FSA and local authorities. JustEat not accepting refund request. Restaurant manager is really rude very disgusting attitude, food and customer service. Save your money too many competitors who are better and will accept when things go wrong. I hope the council shut them down. Disgraceful. Not even worth one star.

Have changed my review. As we went to the mamataz on 9 jan this year for my partners birthday. Have not been in since before our daughter past away over a year ago. But went in and the food was great. As were the staff. Only gave them a 3 star rate last time. But loved the food. Was fantastic. Only draw back was, there was so much. Took the rest home and had it for tea the folowing night. So new 5 star rate. Well done guys. Had a take away on sataday night. Food is a lot better when you eat in. As said had takeaway on 18th jan. My food was ok. But nam was not very tastie. M other half didnt like her food. Said her nam bread was naistie. As was her curry. The price, was not to bad. Half what we payed when we ate in. Was all but £48.99 but only just under £26.00, must charge double for eatting in

My first visit here with my husband was a great experience. My husband's prawn dansak was the best he'd ever tasted!But unfortunately on our second visit the food wasn't up to scratch. Our dishes were very oily and my husband's prawn dansak was so spicey, he couldn't eat itIt's a shame as we thought we had found a decent Indian restaurant near us but we definitely won't be returning
