Monte Cafe & Restaurant in Southend-on-Sea

Easy to find on the main london road in to Southend almost opposite the Sainsbury's store .Friendly service .Good value we had a breakfast & a toastie coffee & juice & sat at the front of the cafe , chairs and tables outside .Menu had some lovely looking food which will return and try .Portuguese provisions food stuffs available to buy & take home .Delta coffee served which I bought a bag of to take home ..

Always pop in for sausage egg and chips when I'm in the area. I gave it 4* as the last time I went the front of house lady was a little miserable and also not dog friendly establishment.Please try there sausages they are such good quality and I've found out they also own a butcher's 😊 near the airport.

Lovely restaurant, very close to the ocean. So I can imagine in the summer most be amazing to go for a walk. Amazing food, autentic Madeirense! Perfect parking (right in front of it).Definitely recommend and definitely will be back.

Small but amazing! The staff are very friendly and the food is to die for. Every time I have visited, the staff couldn’t of been any more helpful, the food is authentic and delicious (recommend the pastel de nata’s, they’re fresh and still warm in the morning/lunchtime!)Highly recommend.

Slow customer service, not due to the waiter, I think it was the kitchen taking long making simple orders such as cutting a tomato and cutting bread. I ordered the typical portuguese dish "bitoque" and was disappointed with the quality of the meat and the chips. Nothing about it was portuguese, the meat was not seasoned correctly and it tasted like plastic steak. Only thing I'd recommend is the prawns there. Location is great and its an average sized cafe.

Fantastic little cafe serving authentic Portuguese meals freshly cooked by a very talented chef!Every time I visit Monte they made you feel very welcome in this family own cafe and I fell like I have been transported back to Portugal...worth visiting again and again....
