Rococo in Southend-on-Sea

We've been here several times and had consistently good service and food. While the décor is not exactly to my taste the food certainly is.Every time it's been clean plates by the end of the meal with portion size just right to leave room for desert! Set menu deals are also excellent value for money.

I am not sure how anyone gave this restaurant, and I use the term loosely, more than 1 star I will never know. I can only assume that they were either written by the owner or the staff or by someone who has never eaten at a decent restaurant! The decor is so drab and dated and has zero atmosphere! The service is rubbish, one poor waitress trying to service all the tables! Although it was fairly empty the food took an age to appear and we were continually asked if we wanted more to drink! In fact if I'd accepted a drink each time I was asked I would have been pissed by the time the meal finally turned up. I can only think the wait was deliberate so as to encourage us to spend more on over priced alcohol! So, the meal turned up and was lukewarm! On top of that it had very little taste, the meat was fatty and insipid and the vegetables were so under cooked I could barely cut them with the blunt cutlery! We decided against staying for desert as by now my partner was so cold she had to put her jacket on. We then had a further 15 minute wait for the bill to be followed by another 10 minutes before the card reader turned up! Laughably they wanted to add a service charge! How this place stays open is a mystery as it is no more than a pretentious greasy spoon! To make it worse the toilets were an absolute disgrace, Choose somewhere else if you want a decent meal!

love this quirky place, we always pop in when in Liverpool, excellent highly recommended.

Not a bad restaurant, been there a couple of years for Xmas dinner now. Good location and not too expensive.
