Just went and wasted my money on battered fish with skin on the fish the batter was greasy and the food tasted rank i do not recommend this place at all

One of the best fish and chips I ever had. Service is great. Highly recommended! If you come to Southend-on-Sea, you must try fish and chips from this shop.

·

Ate in but meal served in disposable box. Thinnest peice of haddock ever. Cheap plastic cutlery which was useless as it couldn't even cut the fried batter on the fish. Nice mushy peas!!

Fish snd chips itself is very good and tasty and decent portion although have had bigger. The place is quite dirty and tired, tables left uncleared for ages.Food also took considerable amount of time to arrive and restaurant was very quiet. However that does mean fish was cooked fresh. Curry sauce and sides all cheap and good.

Overpriced for what turned out to be substandard food! The fish did not have enough batter on it! The serving of chips was miserly and contained an unappetising coating of black specks, which suggests that they need to stop reusing to death the oil. First time order and it will definitely be my last!

Really enjoyed meal. Good value for money, might have little bit more interactive staff but overall can not fail food, speed of service and size of portions.

The Royal Fish & Chip shop...The shop itself was not as clean as it could have been with food left on the table next to us and not been cleaned up.The restroom upstairs tap was also none functioning. And someone (staff) started smoking... something while were were sat inside eating... Very unprofessional.Onto the food:The chips had a very starchy/potatoey texture. Almost like mogo chips if you have ever had them before but not as good. The Fish was okay, very light batter and practically no taste. We also tired the slush which tasted very watered down and lacking any taste. The worst part was the saveloy which may not have been prepared correctly as it went through my friend who had it and needed the restroom within a few minutes.Based on this experience, it is hard to recommend this place whilst there are better places just a short walk away which are cheaper and offer a cleaner place to eat and arguably better quality ingredients.

Fantastic fish and chips joint in Southend, Tasty, fresh and reasonably priced, the cod and chips were on point and they also had a full selection of sauces including proper chilli sauce. They do not use beer batter so suitable for a halal diet. Staff were friendly too and were wearing gloves which was good to see.

Nice family Fish and chip joint. Had a very nice luch time snack. They are very friendly and nice staff had plenty of space to eat in as have a secondary seating area upstairs. They are competitively price for the coastal area but they offer OAP discounts for customers. Great tasting fresh fish excellent chips. Cant go wrong if you are in the mood for Fish and Chips will not be dissappointed.
