Saxon King in Southend-on-Sea

Service was amazing and the garden area was beautiful. The burgers were a little dry but it wasn't a major issue we just left them and ordered the yummy brownie and ice cream. The rest of the meals were cooked well. Our server Danielle was incredibly attentive and couldn't do more even helping the kids outside when a pub umbrella got blown out of the table and was upside down. Thank you for a lovely afternoon

Excellent food. Service was good as well, not rushed. Probably the best chain restaurant I have had the pleasure to visit. You can normally tell the quality of the restaurant by the toilets and here they were pretty clean. I have to say I would recommend the salon king to anyone.

Although very busy being "Mothers Day" the young lady who served our table was so pleasant and attentive to our needs. Great food, good atmosphere with lovely staff. Excellent value for what we paid. It appeared that the Saxon King didn't raise their prices because of Mothering Sunday like many other places. Well done and many thanks.

Booked for 1300 arrived early midday, wanted a drink in the bar area first but shown to dining area straight away not a major problem bur always happens. Good service, table staff always under pressure but keep smiling and work very hard nice to see empty glasses being cleared from table need more staff food always of a good standard never a disaster! Always recommend to others

Disabled parking available, however limited, with an accessible entrance. Disabled toilet and changing facilities available.A nice atmosphere with very helpful and friendly staff whom were attentive. The food were well cooked and flavoursome, with the chicken buttermilk burger being juicy and complimented with a delicious chicken gravy. The desserts were large portions and also tasty. Service were quick and polite too.A loss of a star as the gents toilet urinals were non functional at the time and backed up, creating an unpleasant odor.Would definitely return for another meal.Edit: Have returned and was consistent in taste and portion size. Would continue to recommend.

Today I visited the Saxon King with 16 walking buddies. The staff made everything so easy for me to plan for this from the phone call to book to the bill payment. The food was lovely and just right for lunch. Food arrived promptly and quickly as we had required and pre-ordered. Thank you.

On arrival a friendly young lady met us by the door. My mum asked if we could change our table as she is disabled, this was done immediately. Three of our party chose the lunch menu but I wanted to have the steak pie on the full menu, delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. There was plenty to eat I did ask the girl if I could have my mash changed as it was bit cool, this was done ,no problems there. Desserts were great, the manager came over to explain something, and what a welcoming man, when the bill arrived it was very reasonable. We got up to leave and everyone was told looked forward to seeing us again. Which we will definitely be doing again.

Lovely meal. Waited quite a while at the door to be acknowledged and seated even though it wasn't that busy. Table service good and food nicely cooked and presented. Great menu choices

My husband, soon and myself went to the Saxon King to celebrate Christmas Day. The manager on duty was very welcoming and showed us to our table immediately. Becka, who was serving is was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, not that we asked for much. I observed tables being cleaned fully which was very comforting, especially during these difficult times. The food was amazing!!! As I don't like anything on the starters menu, Becka provided a fruit juice as a replacement. The portions were a good size and I particularly like the way the carrots had been cooked.Thank you so much to all of your staff who have up their Christmas Day to make ours special!!!

What can I say excellent food. Helpful friendly staff especially Izzy. Beautiful clean toilets. Am definitely returning. Excellent
