Terrible service and pretty dirty throughout. Couldn't order via the app, had to queue for ages at the bar, staff don't seem to know the basics of serving people in order. Then had to take our receipt to another bar to be served the other half of our drinks order so another 15 minute wait, with same poorly trained staff who can only serve people directly in front of them and ignore everyone else. Food order was wrong and was over-charged to add insult to injury. We all felt pretty rough all day after eating the food (that wasn't what we ordered in the first place). Not only are the toilets really poorly laid out, they are filthy. Didn't bother complaining because the staff were so rude anyway. Had a similar experience in Watford recently, but at least the staff in Southend didn't drop half our food on the floor and left it there to be trod in to the carpet all afternoon. Time for Wetherspoons to invest in some staff training. So the one star is for being very slightly better than your Watford branch.

Always a great atmosphere at the last post, I enjoy drinking here with friends and eating meals, food is never too long and always correct, staff are always on hand to help and they are very friendly, the staff are always smiling which will always put you in a good mood, the place is clean (including the toilets)It’s nice to come here for a family breakfast or lunch, the menu is amazing with not too much on it, there’s a variety of deals to look at and it’s great value for money.Honestly this place is just amazing

We booked to stay at The Last Post as we had tickets for a show at the Cliffs Pavillion and you can walk to the venue from here. The Pub is enormous and the hotel room we had was also very large. The bathroom was clean in our room and the beds were comfortable but the carpet wasn't very clean and needed a good vacuuming. We had our dinner in The Last Post which was nice and the prices were very good like all Wetherspoon pubs. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again...

The food coupled with a fast service was first class. And very appetisingly cooked. Tasty and well presented. Good all round easy menu display. Good family value.

Went for some birthday drinks on Saturday and the whole experience was dreadful start to finish, most (But not all, I stress) of the staff are completely rude. After making our first order of some food and drinks, the food came immediately but after waiting 30 minutes (given time as it was really busy) our drinks did still not show up. After asking the manager where our table order was, one member of staff got quite aggressive that he had in fact made those drinks. After some time it was clear another table got our drinks, our new drinks would be made. Another 20 minutes goes past and still no drinks so I go up and ask again, after clarifying that the drinks where originally delivered to the wrong table, I again felt like I was being accused of trying to scam the bar, but eventually the drinks where made and delivered too us. An hour after the original order time.On the way out, our group likes to do the polite thing of taking our glasses too the bar, save the bar team a little bit of time, as we finished our drinks, and walked up to the bar, one of the managers quite rudely demanded we leave as the bar was shut.Having worked in hospitality, I like to think I'm quite respective, but this was a bit to excessive.

Very large pub situated outside Southend Central Station (c2c services from Fenchurch Street). Large selection of beers, bitters, spirits, wines and soft drinks at a reasonable price. Food is available throughout the day and bedrooms are available. Be warned though. This pub gets really busy Friday night and Saturdays, so best avoided if you're not great in crowded situations.

Lovely place to eat an drink. We also stayed the night here as was seeing Alan Carr at cliffs pavilion so only a cab ride away. Lovely service and atmosphere. The rooms upstairs were fabulous, definitely stay again if up that way. Staff were plenty and helpful.

We stayed overnight, and really cannot fault the place, our room was nicely decorated and very clean , lovely large bathroom, we were on the top floor so very very quiet. Not too busy in the pub in the evening, we found a booth no trouble, had a couple of drinks, friendly atmosphere.Great breakfast!!

Not great. Not even good to be honest. There was nothing wrong with the food or the drink which came with it, but it was at least 20 minutes before I got served, and I had to go looking for the staff. The place wasn't busy. It just seemed disorganised. Perhaps they were just having an off day but I doubt it. On the plus side the premises contains many old pictures and curios relating to Southend of old. I managed to look at them all while I was waiting to be served, so such memorabilia do have a useful purpose after all.
