The Old Walnut Tree in Southend-on-Sea

Went in on Saturday evening 5adults and 3 babies in buggys, they did turn us away as they had no free tables as it was super busy because of the boxing but the chap managed to move a table around so we could get in! Before we had to aske the waitress had brought us a high chair 👍 Service at the bar was quick we did have to wait quite a while for food and they did have a limited menu as alot had sold out totally understandable as they were fully booked. Not 5 star as the bathrooms need sorting one had no door another had no lock, they where clean though! Nice pub and atmosphere.

The restaurant is very good with all of the machines to keep all of the children entertained. The workers are very nice and polite to everyone in the and I would definitely recommend coming here. I give it a 5 stars.

Visited on a busy Saturday, never had any issues. Great atmosphere and friendly staff, especially Cheryl who served my food and drinks promptly.Food quality was good and the venue was very clean in general.

Onion rings and chips were delicious. The burger was a little burnt and the chicken in the chicken burger was quite dry and there wasn't enough mayo in there to compensation for the dryness. The dessert was AMAZING, and the service was great. It was quite noisy because of the football but that wasn't any fault of the staff. Would probably return, but maybe not for a burger.

Visited on a quiet Friday lunch time. Wine was served in a dirty glass, had to ask for a clean glass. Food took almost an hour to prepare, pub was virtually empty. Food was nothing like described. Mine was meant to be served with salad but no salad was available and 2nd meal was just as ridiculous. It was described as a delicious skewer, peppers, onion, pineapple and chicken. What arrived was 3 pieces of pepper, 2 lumps of chicken, 1 piece of pineapple and no onions.Will not be returning. Such a shame.

Where do I start, a very mix evening. There were around 20 people in our party but we ordered in family groups via their app.Good bits - Food was nice, good portions and reasonable price. I had surf and turf, the steak was cooked to perfection.Bad bits - The tables were not ready, one of our party waited an hour for her food only to find out "their wifi" did not pick up her order even though the money was taken from her account. Another in the party had a glass explode on the table with no one touching it and the friendly mouse which was coming out of the hole around the radiator pipes. All could have been looked over with better customer service, an offer to sort out the missing meal without the argument would have been a better option.

Made to feel very welcome.Lady with purple hair was very friendly .and gentleman behind the bar was fantastic to .sorry didnt get any names .Was in the area for the day. Definitely much better here than our local flaming grill.Hot chips .lovely cooked chicken and kids meals perfectly presented.Definitely be back ..Ant

I go here quite often for meals, the staff are always friendly and accommodating, the food menu is vast and always cooked well.The challenge menu is always good to see someone try them.The pub itself has had quite a few changes over the years and they have what I would say as one of the best outdoor seating and play areas in the area.This is truly a family themed pub, allowing young and old to enjoy the surroundings and to relax alone or with friends and family.Inside the bar has 2 pool tables and a darts area, they also have cash win machines and machines that the kids get a guarantee win from.The tables are cleaned regularly and toilets are in good order, I would say watch out for the gents toilets while washing your hands and you get a splash back from the force of the water.All in all a great place to visit and I will be heading back again on Sunday with family.So I headed back down today with my Family and decided to try the Greenking App, first off I would advise you to download the App before you arrive as this will speed up the process.The advantage to using the app was the fact that you could sit and wait for your order, I would say the food order took me longer than ordering at the bar.That being said it was painless and from ordering I had my food at the table within 20 mins, bar service help to cut down on waiting time at the bar and keeping everyone covid safe, also alot quicker than waiting at a busy bar.Food was spot on as normal, my only fault was the steak ordered was for a medium and it came out medium well done.Staff were in full swing and all dressed up for Halloween and all looked the part.Tonight they had the rock and roller bingo running via the local DJ, good night was had by all customers.I only found out tonight also that they do delivery via JUST EAT so that will be a good one to try another time.Well done to all staff

Had a lovely family meal. We all spent ages deciding what to have from the extensive menu, so much choice! I downloaded the app and tried that out. It was easy to use, and set up. The drinks arrived very quickly and the food was on the table in 20 minutes. Only downside I had was the skillet made cutting the steak very difficult, so would probably request a plate next time. All staff were very helpful and polite. Will definitely be returning soon

Driving past I saw their wonderful steak offer of Monday/Tuesday £5 Steaks! So I had to check it out.First of all, really friendly service. Ordering was easy, just purchasing through their app (Table service was available too).The restaurant was busy, but my son and I's meal didn't take much longer than 25 minutes to come.The steak was served on an iron cast pan which instantly excited me haha, and for the price too, I was very happy. On the app, it did have many features to add on extras, and once you have drinks included etc, your £5 offer does add up 😅 but, it wasn't expensive at all, and the whole meal was really worth it.I would happily recommend and revisit.
