On a day out with girlfriends one for a special birthday. We just popped into this lovely little place, we was seated straight away, the waitress was very attentive, asking if we were ready to order, we ordered drinks, then we ordered, we had a gammon and the trimmings, a steak and the trimmings, and I had a ham, cheese and onion quiche and salad, everything was lovely and hot, we then ordered desserts of choccabanana and Eaton mess, yum yum yum. From entering to leaving was a pleasure.

Visited this restaurant on Saturday. Was quite disappointed. Staff were lovely, but the food was disappointing. I had fish and chips, fish okay chips seemed like they had been warmed over and over not fresh. Wife had chicken Kiev and seemed liked it had been cooked in a deep fat fryer. Salad was a laugh 1 salad leaf. What a joke. Sorry but will not be returning.

Had many Family meals here. Never had a bad experience. Always the same great hosting & meals served quick and good choice.

I visited Tomassi's 23rd March & this long standing family run restaurant always serves excellent food. Their fish dishes are superb & I particularly recommend their brown buttered skate. Their This & That Salad has something in it for everyone. If visiting Southendfrom outside the City then this is the only place to eat, it's closely run by the famous TomassiFamily with fourth generation family members involved. It's the epitomy of a wonderful eating experience. The ice cream desserts are too tempting.Long may this famous restaurant be there for me to visit.

Suprised it was not just a cafe as its during the day, which is lovely. I went at night when the resturant was open which i loved. Good food and drink and the best sundaes. Cant wait to go back

1 = poor 10 = excellentWelcome 9Atmosphere 9Cleanliness 7Speed of serve 9Attentiveness 7Food quality 4Value for money 6Drinks 8(59/ 72)The staff here did everything right, it’s a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. The food however, the one thing you come for.Summary: Outdated and bland foodFew of us had prawn cocktail which wasn’t bad, personally not a fan of tomatoes so spent a lot of time fishing out the tiny pieces, no mention of them on the menu. One of us had the king prawns in garlic butter, which they were swimming in. A drizzle or two to dip bread in to not so bad, but this was more like a 1/4 of a bowl of grease with prawns thrown in, the flavour was ok…On to mains, I had sirloin (medium) which was in all fairness cooked to medium. But there was no seasoning, the chips from a packet frozen, but were ok. The mushrooms, slimy out of a tin then warmed, not nice at all. Salmon straight from the freezer, not seasoned, watery. The ‘vegetable medley’ which was peas and carrots, no idea what would of been wrong with seasonal veg nor why you would describe as a medley, except when you get the obvious, that they were tinned or frozen. The most remarkable part is I have no idea how long you have to cook a pea for it to lose all its flavour, but this had been achieved.Curry, served with rice & peas & carrots, maybe they’re desperate to get rid of them. The desserts were probably the only saving grace, very nice and surprisingly the cream tasted fresh.

Husband and I had dinner at tomassis (southend) last night. Second time we've been there..had great service each time..staff very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely. I had steak with peppercorn sauce..probably will always order that..it was beyond good. Husband had liver/bacon and onions..he said that was also very good. Would definately recommend this restaurant. Nice place to go to relax

It seems everyone knows this restaurant and everyone loves it. Ice creams are of course fabulous, and my seafood salad was excellent too. We knew it wouldn't be cheap so we made it the main meal of our day so the bill didn't feel so bad!Service was excellent - I accidentally ordered something different to what I thought I was getting, waitress could tell I was disappointed with what arrived and immediately sought to correct, without extra charge. I was embarrassed but she insisted for me not to. We had a lovely time.

Had a salad today.. We had no coleslaw when it's did arrive in a bowl it was just white cabbage no carrot. Is this because of cutbacks..

How can I start off.......well when I lived in the area I would take my two little girls to Tomassi's not so much for a treat but because I wanted to go there. It was always a cut above the rest, a safe friendly place I distinctly remember Mr & Mrs Tomassi dining upstairs and the two girls hassling them. Now my youngest is 24 and has a 4 month I just felt it right to take my little girls back and it was like slipping into your bestest, comforting jumper. Absolutely fantastically magical what a brilliant time with great staff and out of this world food also great value. Thank you for surviving & 100yrs strong, this will now be our once a month experience.
