Tyrrell's Fish And Chips in Southend-on-Sea

Walked quite a way from the seafront to go here after seeing a 4.5 star on Google.It was clean but unremarkable. We were up for a slap up meal but the prices were high so ordered the bare minimum. £2.95 for curry sauce! That's 2 teaspoons of dehydrated curry flavoured MSG with hot water. Also had the classic medium and large options for the cod. I had the 'medium' but as the middle child of two, I'd say it was small. I asked for no chips but they tried to charge me for them saying they came with it. It's a plated version of the takeaway! Why would it not be possible to ask for fish only! At least tell me when I order it.Having said that the food was tasty and fresh.

Had cod and chips, the fish was absolutely amazing, light, not too heavy and not greasy at all, tasted amazing, chips were very nice too, service was quick, staff friendly. Seating was spacious and nice too, would definitely recommend 👌🏼

Four of us arrived without a booking, were happily welcomed and accommodated. Cheerful, friendly, patient service - and most importantly, excellent fish and chips. One minor issue - the gherkin was disappointingly small.

Probably the best chippy I’ve visited. Delicious fat but crispy chips, incredibly sweet and well battered fish. Lovely battered sausage and perfect curry sauce. What’s not to like?

The food here was delicious, we ordered haddock, plaice and a cod for my child all with chips. I had mushy peas and plaice. The food was well cooked and seasoned, lovely crispy battery, and tasty fish and the chips was tasty too.We loved it, great atmosphere and amazing location. Staff were inviting, welcoming and attentive.It is right opposite the train station and by the town centre, which is convenient, and very clean toilets downstairs. Totally recommended and will be back on another visit!

Ordering for a 1 year old with allergies, this was taken seriously by staff and we all enjoyed our meal.We ordered 1 haddock 1 cod and 1 scampi, all faultless and would recommend! We will definitely be back.

Have visited several times, fish and chips always freshly prepared staff are friendlyChips are a just a little under cooked for me but it a personal preference but still one of the best fish restaurants in Essex. We will be coming back soon

One of the few chippies I've found that cater for coeliac suffers (gluten intolerance). Fish was amazing and the first my daughter's been able to eat since developing her gluten intolerance. They even serve GF vinegar- another first! Very reasonably priced so will definitely be back.

Nice outdoor seating. Great gluten free options; fish, chips, vinegars and sauces.
