Where is Van Looy's Fish and Chips?

🏠 16 Clifftown Rd, Southend-on-Sea SS1 1AB

"Van Looy’s is a fully licensed family-run fish & chip shop. Offering delicious, high-quality food at competitive prices has been at the heart of what we do since we first opened in 2009, with our British potatoes peeled and cut in-store every morning and our fresh and locally sourced fish only ever prepared in once ordered. Being located just opposite Southend Central train station has meant we’ve welcomed guests from all over the world to enjoy our traditional British cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service in Southend for over a decade now. Deemed by many as the ‘best fish and chips in Southend’, and with some even going as far enough as to say Essex, why not come and see for yourself. We look forward to seeing you!"

Probably the best chippy I’ve visited. Delicious fat but crispy chips, incredibly sweet and well battered fish. Lovely battered sausage and perfect curry sauce. What’s not to like?

The food here was delicious, we ordered haddock, plaice and a cod for my child all with chips. I had mushy peas and plaice. The food was well cooked and seasoned, lovely crispy battery, and tasty fish and the chips was tasty too.We loved it, great atmosphere and amazing location. Staff were inviting, welcoming and attentive. It is right opposite the train station and by the town centre, which is convenient, and very clean toilets downstairs. Totally recommended and will be back on another visit!

Amazing food, amazing service!Drove from London to try their food as reviews were really good, we weren’t let down at all!Fish was nice and fresh, battered sausages were lovely (not oily as some places). The sources were yummy. And their service was lovely. If your in the area, must try this place.

Ordering for a 1 year old with allergies, this was taken seriously by staff and we all enjoyed our meal.We ordered 1 haddock 1 cod and 1 scampi, all faultless and would recommend! We will definitely be back.

One of the few chippies I've found that cater for coeliac suffers (gluten intolerance). Fish was amazing and the first my daughter's been able to eat since developing her gluten intolerance. They even serve GF vinegar- another first! Very reasonably priced so will definitely be back.

A great place for gluten-free fish and chips. Cod and chips were superb; freshly fried, not burned, piping hot, good flavour. Premises lively and clean and well lit, with space for a baby pram.Would be five stars if they had offered onion rings and scampi in g/f batter too. Recommended.

Restaurant was clean, staff friendly and food cooked to order with generous portions. Food was nice and not greasy. Will come again. Highly recommended.

Gluten free fish and chips were cooked perfectly and the homemade coleslaw is delicious. Well worth a visit

Nice outdoor seating. Great gluten free options; fish, chips, vinegars and sauces.
