Staff friendly, although like everywhere in Southend very young. Prices seemed higher than other parts of Essex and very small portion of chips - to the point where you look at the bill and feel a bit ripped off. Restaurant clean but very dated and in need of refurbishment.

Sorry to say but this place is awful, filthy filthy windows, ripped seats, run down beyond belief, given filthy knives & folks with bits of food stuck to them. We ate with our hands. The rude, blonde guy with glasses who greets & takes your order is clearly in the wrong job, wanted to walk out the instant he opened his mouth, two hungry kids is the only reason I didnt. Cant say anything good about this Wimpy except the burgers were way better than the experience, and a sweet girl served our food

Was greeted rudely and told to sit down by a very rude blonde haired boy with glasses....the restaurant was half closed which I don't understand why ...the tables were too close together to even fit in a baby's high chair and was packed to where other people were touching as they packed out the restaurant tables and chairs too closely...the baby high chairs are disgusting and covered in what looks like mouldy food and most are broken...very unsafe.. restaurant looked dirty and very run down.by this time we ended up leaving very disgusted...which is a shame as the high street wimpy is amazing and well loved by my family and kids and has a very high rating . DO NOT GO TO THE SEAFRONT WIMPY!!!

Limited menu as its the seafront restaurant which I imagine helps keep service speedy when it's busy, however when I visited there were maybe three other tables taken (so less than a quarter full) and the service was terrible. Slow, and honestly the vibe from the staff was terribly depressing. Wouldn't bring the kids back here again. Luckily I'm local so there are lots of other options available. Would not recommend.

Very noisy and very busy location, especially at night. Expect to wait up to an hour for a normal sized order. However, it's the same Wimpy fare you know and love - no complaints about the quality.

Unless you’re visiting simply out of nostalgic fascination, I would suggest otherwise. Wimpy is just a more expensive, inferior product when compared to other fast food establishments. The service is friendly but slow and the portion sizes, considering how much they charge, are ridiculous. I could almost count the chips on my daughters plate on one hand. Unfortunately there is no place for Wimpy outside the 1980s, even the classic Wimpy Kingsize that I remembered so fondly from my childhood is nothing like it used to be. Not recommended

We were treated very rudly by staff who were bashing past customers to get in and were then told they were too busy and congested to seat us. (Party of 5)

Wimpy may have once been great, perhaps 30 years ago, but now it's nothing more than a curiosity in a world of fast food chains who do it quicker, and gourmet burger restaurants who do it better.I checked out this restaurant while in Southend as I was looking for a relatively quick bite while on the sea front, and I didn't fancy fish and chips, which didn't leave much choice.Expectations were low with the shabby exterior, and the interior, although clean enough, was hideously outdated; do children even know who Dennis the Menace, The Bash Street Kids, and Bananaman are these days?!The food was ok, nothing more. The fries could easily have been supermarket frozen fare, and the burgers were just cheap, over-greasy, and tasteless.Toilets were horrible and dirty. They were unisex, and just two cubicles, with only one of them having a working light.Unless the weather is bad and you need to sit indoors, there is quite simply no reason to visit, when you can pick up a similar standard of burger from one of the many "chips/burgers/donuts" establishments, far cheaper and quicker.

I ordered the gourmet chicken burger which I can highly recommend. The chicken breast was a decent size (literally hanging out the burger) and not dried out. What annoyed me only slightly was that one server told us to sit wherever and my partner and I went to sit on a four person table by the window but another server then told us to sit on a two person table because "they'd just had a rush" even though at this point it was relatively quiet. Then when another couple came in they were seated at a four person table. It may seem trivial but we ordered a lot of food and could have done with the extra space!!

I have been around a lot of Wimpys, the only good thing that was good was the fries, burger bun tasted like it was a week old, they will not give extra burger sauce according to your tastes like other wimpys... not impressed and to pay £25 for two simple classic burgers and a kids meal, even if it’s sea front, I don’t see why I paid that amount!!! Please do better, you are the Wimpys franchise wrongThe chairs, what is that??
