Bar Meze in St Albans

First visit here last Friday, we had a set menu. The dips at the start were incredible. Generous portions, lovely fun atmosphere. Felt like being on holiday!

Lovely friendly and fun service. Family feel with great value good food. We came with a 3 kids including a toddler and were wonderfully looked after. As we were leaving was becoming more a pre-going out crowd, so they clearly serve a broad demographic. Recommend a visit for sure!

Wow wow wow! You need to go here! The food is by far the best I've had. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. It's so relaxing and we couldn't get enough of the food. Best service we've experienced in a long time!

We love this place so, after a decade or more of eating here, I thought I'd share the secret. This is a restaurant that absolutely nails what it sets out to do...This is a lively, friendly meze grill and the food and ambience is very Cypriot / Mediterranean. (I note some reviews saying it can get noisy - yes, it does at the weekends because it's always full and that's the kind of place it is). Treat yourself early or on a weekday lunch to sample the food at a quieter time.The food is always beautifully prepared and comes fresh off the grill to your plate. You can choose to eat meze-style (the fixed options are easy, varied and plentiful) or have more traditional courses to your meal if you prefer.My partner is coeliac but is always comfortable eating here - the friendly staff are knowledgeable about gluten and allergies - which means it's a place she can eat at without worry.We eat here regularly as a couple but also come with friends, family and have even booked it for parties and work events. Always in the knowledge that it'll deliver.As a final bonus you can pick a number of healthy choices so can indulge without feeling you've over eaten.A real gem of a place.

Haven't been able to visit for three years but coming back was amazing. Same owner and chef and the food and hospitality was as I remember it. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was ok, strange flavours and not everything needs herbs, including chips?The service wasn’t great, then had the cheek to add 20% service charge?? Seemed like they couldn’t be bothered?? Even if the service was great and the food was even ok I still would have still paid the service. I paid it anyway…The restaurant had 2 other tables, the other table didn’t touch their food and the other table has lots of children throwing things and making ALOT of noise. Nothing was done to at least ask the table to settle down. Handed a dirty menu wasn’t a great first impression either…I’m honestly surprised that the restaurant has 4.4 rating?? I would not return and I definitely will tell people to avoid.

Really loved! Everything was delicious. Very good attendance and the ‘’combo’’ was huge, serves very very well! Really recommend it! 😊

Just had a most successful lunchtime party to celebrate my special birthday with 40 people. Bar Meze could not have been more helpful and arranged it all in such a way that everyone felt welcomed and comfortable. The meze menu was outstanding with delicious well, prepared dishes to suit all tastes, including those with dietary constraints. Many guests commented on the professionalism and care shown by the staff as well as the friendly & relaxed ambience. Would thoroughly recommend it.

Beautiful Greek food: succulent swordfish, perfect prawns, the meat is high quality and done perfectly. Ordered far too much but still we ate nearly everything! Nimatt is an artist.Great atmosphere and quick service even at busy times. This is probably the best restaurant in St. Albans.

I'd give this place 6 stars if I could.The owner is there 100% of the time, and he always seems to remember you. It's just a great neighbourhood restaurant, you always feel like a regular and you're welcomed so warmly by all the staff.Get anything from the grill and you won't be disappointed.We started getting the house special selection kind of thing as a takeaway and it is by far, really far, the best takeaway we've ever had.
