Parents joined us for an impromptu lunch at the restaurant. First time here. Plenty(!) of parking to be had. Service was quick. Not a long wait for the food and drinks either. Presentation of food was nicely done. Good value for the money too. The pork belly was little more dry and tough than what I'm used to, but the gravy served with it was genuinely to die for - more than made up for the overly done meat. The others enjoyed their dishes.

I prejudged this place but I was really impressed with the food. Only let down was that the shepherds pie had very little meat in and the table and surrounding were not the cleanest.

A charmingly lovely pub after a stroll around London Colney. Stone floors wooden beams on the ceiling and various different sections to sit whether noshing or sploshing. Humans would be happy with a varied menu and their four-legged canine friends might be happy with the three dolly treats and bowls of water. At least three dogs during our visit, this is a popular pub with dogs.I'm a teddy that adores fish cakes; so I couldn't wait to tuck into the fish cake with poached egg and hollandaise sauce, accompanied with new potatoes and asparagus. The wonderfully creamy soft mashed potato coated in breadcrumbs acted like a fluffy sleeping bag to the the fish ( rather too little fish for my liking) but potato was so yummy that I will forgive them. The hollandaise sauce was simple without any sickly feeling it can sometimes have. It was a shame that the asparagus had the woody bit left on and overall what's showing signs of wilting.A busy staff is friendly and make sure that the dogs have water.A very nice pub, particularly if you are bringing the dog, or a teddy bear!Alright very welcome in the drinking area they are not in the dining area. Which is just as well I guess. I assume teddy bears are allowed in the dining area because we were with dog we eating this drinking area.

Myself, husband and young grandson visited for dinner this evening. We enjoyed delicious food served in lovely cosy and welcoming surroundings, by friendly, helpful staff. We are only in this area for a couple of days, but we will be visiting again before we leave. 10 out of 10 all round. A big thanks for a lovely visit.

Booked to go to the Colney Fox for lunch on Boxing Day. We were a party of 5 but the website said there were no tables available so I booked a table of 4 and asked if we could have an extra chair put on the end However on arrival the staff found us a very nice table for 6 which was excellent. We had the 3 Course Boxing Day menu which was outstanding. Even though they were very busy, we were very well looked after by Georgina, who made our visit special. We look forward to returning to the Colney Fox soon 😀

Service was good, rib eye steak and gammon very tough and chewy. Lovely chips. People kept going out to smoke which immediately made the restaurant cold, my wife had to keep getting up to close the door and then sit with her coat wrapped around her.

Had the most fabulous Sunday lunch yesterday. Staff were very accommodating & helpful. With 2 babies in our group they gave us the space we needed in a quiet alcove. Didn't rush us through our meal around little ones napping, found crayons for our toddler & made the whole get together a relaxed joy. The food was absolutely fabulous too & very reasonably priced. Thank you so much for hosting our family with grace & efficiency 👍🎅💞

Wonderful service with great food.I haven't been for many years to the Fox, but was visiting with my Mum and we stopped by for a bite to eat. I had the Chicken pie. It was good. Friendly staff who helped us through our order as my mother had some dietary requirements. We'll certainly visit again.
