Cote Brasserie - St Albans in St Albans

Delicious meal, good service, pleasant surroundings and lovely staff. Definitely would go again.

Had the Prix Fixe menu and enjoyed every bit! The whitebait was sooo good that I’m still thinking about it the next day. The pork terrine was also lovely. We paid the £3 supplement to have a ribeye steak and it felt like great value for money. On top of that, Star, our waitress, provided some great service and really knew the wine list well. Thanks Star☺️

Nice restaurant, good food, friendly staff, swift service without being rushed. The menu has good variety and is reasonably priced in my opinion. We both enjoyed our food, the portion size was spot on.We sat fairly close to the door so an icy chill enveloped us as guests came and left, not much they can do about that, but if I went again, I'd request a table away from the door.

Food is good, but can get quite expensive. I mean, 70 pounds for a couple people and a child, when you barely see the food in your plate? (portions were ridiculously small).I also noticed that the tip is literally forced into your bill, 10 pounds extra as concept "optional gratuity". If its optional I'd expect to have the option to choose, right?We won't be coming back.

I cannot express how much I love the mussels in this restaurant. The food is great the quality is great and the staff is really friendly. They are always checking how is the food and suggesting more drinks. Nevertheless I would recommend to add some more pieces of bread for the pâté, as only three small pieces are not enough, and is not fair that you need to order an extra bread to complete this starter.

Better than a normal pub if that's your threshold but this one of the worst Cote's I've been to. The food was, in general, a bit flavourless and some of it seems like it had been left waiting for service for too long - a bit dry and slightly overdone. The chocolate fondant for example, had the same texture as a 5 minute 'mug-muffin' with very little melt-in-the-middle.If you're used to McDonald's this is 5* dining, but otherwise maybe you'll get a better taste elsewhere in St Albans.

Visiting this restaurant was a real pleisure. The design and ambience of the place is beautiful, classy and cosy. The staff is helpful and patient. The food was absolutely amazing. We have started off with the French onion soup, which was absolutely flavourful combined with the bread and the melted cheese. The main was moules-frites, with mussels, that had a very soft texture with a delicious sauce. The mayonnaise that you can choose with the frites is creamy and very flavourful, something that tasted to me authentic. The other main was a rather light yet well dressed celeriac steak with a lentil sauce vierge. Lastly the desserts, mixed berry pavlova -  which was sweet sour creamy and crunchy.Whilst the chocolate fondant,  warm chocolate was soft and gooey with some vanilla ice cream to find balance.It was a beautiful experience!

We have just came back from celebrating our anniversary in Cote and it was amazing! Food, atmosphere, the care from the staff was really top class. Our waiter knew it was our anniversary and he brought us celebration champagne right on the start- really made us feel special. We have tried all restaurants in st Albans and Cote is definitely the best one in terms of food and customer service. We will definitely come back !!

Friday 9/7/21 at 8pm. The food was exceptional. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was great.I booked this restaurant for my girlfriend's birthday as a suprise, we were not disappointed.The restaurant customer service was top notch, from when I rang to book the table, until we left. We both left the restaurant talking and feeling like we had gone out for a nice meal. Now I know this sounds silly, but I've paid a lot of money to eat out in restaurants and they've been dirty, run down, cheap looking etc... not this place.I ordered the Devon Crab Maison for starter.... I didn't want it to end!!! My girlfriend asked me why I was taking such small mouthfuls? My answer was it tastes so Good! My main was the Brittany fish stew, sea bass, prawns, squid, mussels, chilli and white wine, every mouthful was a different flavour. Delicious.When I phoned to book the table during this difficult time with Covid-19, I said to the person on the phone that it was my girlfriend's birthday, and they said to leave it in their hands... When we sat down the waitress complimented my girlfriend's dress and then bought out two glasses of champagne and wished her a happy birthday. The ambience was perfect, it felt like a date night. As customers, the staff made us feel comfortable and happy. The service was perfect, I couldn't fault it.The bill... I've paid over triple the price for very average food. The whole experience was one of the best I've had... We had Olives, 2 glasses of French white wine, 2 starters, 2 mains for £70... We both are looking forward to going back.
