Lovely location, garden and good food. Sadly let down by the inefficient staff. Arrived with around 25% of the garden occupied and waited over 15 mins for our first drink. Asked to wait 5 minutes to place a food order then had to flag someone down after another 15 minutes. Condiments never arrived and gave up after another 15 minutes for drink number 2. This is the second visit with poor service so unlikely to revisit despite the lovely gardens and location.

Visited Fri 27May2022 for drink and brief meal. A superb pub with vast gardens, large enough to accommodate two large teepees, for sheltered outdoor dining. Beer is clean, clear and fresh (it ought to be; Farr Brew owns the pub!). Wine list is long and reasonably diverse. Food is fantastic, really well cooked. The typical test dish of burger and chips demonstrated the basics being done really well. Will be back. (pic of burger was taken after I've started to eat it, was hungry, forgot to take pic immediately after serving)

Amazing burger with the friendliest service. Sat in the garden in the sunshine but could have been under cover or inside. Will definitely be going again and walking there so I can have a Farr Brew pint. Does it get much better than that? See you there!

It was the second time we went and like the first time it smelled like a sewer, especially near the kids play area, which is really a shame and they should do something about it. Staff were friendly apart from the lady who took our order who was very impatient to do it as quickly as possible - with 10 of us a little more patience would have been welcome.Food was OK - chips had clearly been reheated, but the meat was fine.

Great location and gardens. Shame we catch it after a rain, but food was lovely

This beautiful tucked-away corner of countryside bliss has everything a family might want from a country pub. There are gardens to explore, a play area with climbing frames, a couple of giant teepee tents, and even some chickens in a hutch. Dogs, too, are welcome in the large outdoor area. There's a decent menu selection and food local beers. Phone ahead if you can, it gets busy!

This is a picturesque English country pub in setting lost in time. I have been going here for 30 years and have always enjoyed it. Its certainly a place to take friends after a good walk through the surrounding countryside. The gardens have been improved hugely and the addition of the marquee is very welcome. The food is OK, I would recommend it more for a drink with friends and family.

Absolute gem hiding down a country laneWe popped in for lunch following the good reviews of others. Staff were polite and organised. The atmosphere was great, and the food was good for the price - pub food.

Amazing Sunday roast, and vegan Sunday roast, desserts were delicious, serious wine list and five star service, cannot reccomend enough!! The pub is lovely kept, cosy and warm, it definitely should be your next stop 😁

Lovely pub. Happened on it while walking in Wheathampstead. It's of historical importance with a very deep well in the middle of the pub, secured by a sheet of toughened glass but scarily deep with a light at the bottom. Very good cask ales brewed on the premises, great food, friendly staff, reasonable prices and on a walking route through a very pretty village. What more could you ask?
