Jack's Fish & Chips in St Albans

Went here today because Godfreys was closed. To be honest the fish smelt and the chips were very undercooked. I had a few chips and now have stomach pains. Disgusted. This is the first and last time I go here.

Thoroughly enjoyed their cod, chips and peas.

Ordered for delivery, some food was missing, my fish was wrapped by itself and all the soft, soggy, flat batter just peeled off with the paper (right) tasted it and was soggy and bland. Put it straight back in the bag and drove to my local fish and chip place in Wheathampstead to get another fish and chips (left). Wint be ordering from them again

Ordered through just eat last night and was amazed! The fish batter was crispy just to my liking. Sizzling sausages easy to cut up for my children but not too chewy. At the end of dinner time I was very full. Thumbs up to the chef and delivery.

Burger was deep fried and rock hard, not edible. Half my food was taken from under the heat lamp a good 5 minutes before the rest of my food and hence was cold. Wasn't overly keen on the person vaping in the food prep area out back either.

Just bought fish and chips from here, I can honestly say that it was the worst fish and chips ever. Just lots of batter around a bit of fish which was not cod and bitty and green chips. I paid nearly £14 for this rubbish and have had to throw it in the bin. Disgusting excuse for a fish and chip shop. Feel like I have been thoroughly ripped off and deserve a refund.

One of the best fish & chip shops around. Great quality. Good menu choices. Friendly service. Also love that they present a 21st century attitude to doing business - ethical sourcing, recycled/compostable packaging, powered by Ecotricity.

Good tasty fish and chips.I don't eat much, got the kids' portion for fiver.🍟🐟It WAS a kids' portion though,lucky I wasn't so hungry.Will have another go next month.

Best Fish & Chips in Harpenden ! . Open planned kitchen clean fresh fish and chips what more could you want :D Staff very polite also and would always go the extra mile . Prices are very good also :D

Worst chips ever..oh and, check your change before leaving.In 54 years of being on this planet I have never had such a terrible portion of chips as I was served up at this shop. I was visiting the record fair at Public Halls on Saturday 28th July and took a break for lunch. By immense misfortune, I found this place and ordered a saveloy and chips to takeaway. He boxed it up and I offered a £10 note. He then gave me my change all in coins which didn't matter as I would use some of them up back in the record fair. I walked back to my car to eat and upon opening the box, I saw the chips were brown as in when the oil needs changing. I started to eat the chips and gave up half way through. You know how some chip shops double cook them for a crispy outside and a fluffy inside? Well, I don't mind them like that but I much prefer my chips to be soft and limp. What I do draw the line at, is CRUNCHY chips. So crunchy my teeth began to hurt. And it wasn't just a few, it was all of them. I put it down to a bad experience and besides It was uphill and too far to walk back to complain. When I got home I emptied my bag and expected to see more change. I accounted for every transaction in the record fair and found that he MUST have charged me £5.60 for a saveloy and chips. Absolute daylight robbery.It amazes me how such a shoddy establishment survives in an affluent place like Harpenden. Perhaps I'm not the only one getting short changed.
