Locanda Bagutta in St Albans

Beautiful venue, great atmosphere and really friendly staff!However there is room to improve on some areas, which I am sure can be fixed as I would love to give the place another go.- my partner’s pizza plate was chipped in a few places with an actual loose bit of plate there when served - thankfully he noticed and did not accidentally eat it. This is a serious health hazard and all damaged plates have to be chucked.- desserts were not great unfortunately. Tiramisu was dry, lacking in flavour and the mascarpone layer was really thin. My partner’s chocolate and pear tart oddly did not taste of either of the main ingredients.May come back to try pasta next time, but will give it a while.

Sitting outside was lovely. However the food was overpriced and average and I think there are better Italian restaurants in town.

OMG!!! What a hidden gem! Absolutely loved it! The food was out of this world, deeeelicious! The owner, Antonio, and his team, including Juliano and Michelle, we sooooo welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is perfectly tucked away in George Street, with the benefits of being able to sit outside in the quaint courtyard and enjoy the twinkling lights with a superb glass of wine (or two), finishing with a LemoncelloAn amazing night! Delicious food but over priced. We had a birthday, and they brought out a tiramisu with candles which we thought was a lovely touch. When they brought out the bill and we found out they had charged us £7.50 each for a small piece of tiramisu. It was delicious, but not worth anywhere near that amount. A shame as if the prices were less it would be a great restaurant.

My visit exceeded my expectations. Bagutta has a very authentic Italian feel to it and demonstrates how simplicity at its finest can be great. Pizza’s were very good and the pasta dishes cannot be much better. The restaurant being run and managed by Italians is definitely noticeable.

I had tagliatelle with shavings of truffle. It was one of the best Italian dinners I have ever had.

Cosy, family run restaurant tucked away off St Georges street in St Albans.Lovely service, good food, lots of choice including vegetarian selection. Some outdoor seating as well. Great pizza and bruschettas. Lasagne had a bit too much cheese
