Old Cock Inn in St Albans

Both my steak and my boyfriends Steak seemed very salty. Mine was overcooked (ordered rare and jt was very medium to medium well). Staff were polite and yet service seemed a little slow despite the place didn't seem that busy during lunch.

A real pub, cozy, pleasant and friendly. The nice bit is that it's not a cattle market or a barn. It feels touchable. There is a restaurant and some outside space. What is there not to like.

Our fave St. Albans gastropub. The food changes seasonally and tastes amazing. The staff are always super friendly too which is an added bonus- shout out to Dora!!

Worse Sunday roast ever!! Nothing like from their Online photos. Waiting far too long and the roasts is not hot. Bad seating area! Better go to nearby Soup kitchen as they do hot meals!

So, yeah it was good. The four of us had different mains which we all enjoyed. It's was a little cold though, which isn't great when you want to spend time at the table, I noticed a couple of diners kept their coats on. Lovely roaring fire heat at the bar but that that didn't extend to the restaurant. We'll definitely visit again if we're in the area but perhaps when the weather warms up!

Food was exceptional and the service was brilliant. The food was way above the standard of what you expect from a pub, it was like being in a restaurant! We only Went in for some food, and was expecting your usual pub grub. This was not the case, highly recommended

Great outdoor area with heatlamps, friendly bar staff, clean throughout. Nice decor.

Cosy gastropub that serves tasty gourmet burgers. Service was attentive and the wine selection here is surprisingly extensive. Would give five stars if sauces were supplied in bottles/small bowls rather than sachets which can be very difficult to open with greasy fingers.

Great location if you’re looking for a quiet drink and people watching at the north end of St Albans’ city centre.Great selection of beers. The staff are generally really friendly but, for some reason, there appears to be a high turnover.Food in the restaurant is to a high standard and a restricted selection is available in the bar.For me, this pub/restaurant often goes from great to average to great again - I guess, because of the high staff turnover. It has the potential to be consistently great if the owners can hold on to great staff.
