Lovely old pub, pleasant atmosphere, nice wine.

For me a surprisingly excellent stop - I though it would be heaving going on a Saturday night and I expected mainstream cask ales - but the atmosphere was great, busy enough and there was a range of ales from independent breweries, including two from Tring. As is usual, the Tring beers were superb 👌

For the First time in long time , revisited the boot, once was the best pub in St.albans for many years, now lost its once cozy pub to overpriced food, a menu that is so selected to a certain market or people, was not that fantastic the market stall outside the pub had better food and for half the price.Very la de la atmosphere it's a pub not a posh Michelin star restaurant that it's portraying to be? 🧐🧐🤔

Good location in the city centre, Oakham Citra was OK, personally never really warmed to this pub for some reason, not sure why!

Not the same place it used to be, we only go here for a Christmas drink on a Walkabout round the pubs in St Albans near Christmas Eve, has lost its charm. Shame it had such a good Atmosphere. We'll not be going back anymore, and it won't be missed from our list of pubs we call at, understably, Nor will we! as we're not regulars.

I like to low ceiling atmosphere with Xmas lights on. Just like fairytale. Serving real cask n ales. Heard about their food but didn’t try may b next time. Service was quick. Staff was ok. Right in the middle of town, just next to shopping mall. Good for quick pint. Indoor n outdoor seating. It seems like good for local people, sitting all around the bar but they never realise, it’s hard for customers to order or pick up their drinks from counter. It was soo full packed. Other than that all ok. Enjoyed my drink n time there.

Our friend was singing outside the boot and it was cold and wet so we dived into the pub for hot mulled wine, it was really busy but we got a table and our friend joined us when she'd finished and we were in there for hours , the atmosphere was great the people were really friendly there were families with young children sat colouring, people eating in there too, loads of dogs I had mine aswell, it was so relaxed we loved it x

Best pub in St Albans, quality beers, lovely venue and due to Covid outside seating in front of the pub. Bring back the live bands and it will be complete again

·

I ran this pub for 3 years in the 90s, & harassed the brewery on a daily basis to spend a few quid brightening it up. The present owners have brightened it up, & it looks fantastic. Lovely, pleasant little pub now, thoroughly enjoyed a drink there.

Good ale beers and the best location in St Albans. The pub cannot pass unnoticed if you wander a little around this amazing town (very advisable, by the way). This time we were lucky to get a table in the terrace, with views to The Clock Tower, once the sun showed up for a while in a stormy afternoon. The staff is kind and fast, and the price reasonable. Next time we will check those tacos.
