Horrible service and bartenders with attitude. Asked if they still served food, they said yes. We ordered our drinks and looked at the menu. After 5 minutes or so we’re ready to order and they tell us the kitchen is closed! Now we’re stuck here with a drink and no food. Waste of time

Tidy pub, decent beer garden, but both food and drinks a bit pricey for its location.

Met some friends for a drink before we went to see St Albans City play against Dorking. Very nice pub good choice if beers. Didn't eat anything so can't comment on the food.

·

Went in for a quick pint and the staff were very friendly even though it was close to closing up time.

Fairly large Green King pub. Old building with interesting external architectural features. Excellent decor and friendly helpful staff. Nice beer garden to the rear. Good range of beers and some good wines on an albeit small wine list. Food is of good quality and a fairly good choice. Dog friendly in the garden. Highly recommended if your looking for a pleasant friendly atmosphere and moderately priced food.

Better than thought lots of space quite peaceful and family oriented typical St Alban's types ...TV sport earlier. Do not know what it's like later but definitely more up market than thought. Not noisy. Couples on wine etc

·

Very big traditional pub with good selection of beers (Timothy Taylor landlord and Camden pale ale for example). Service struggled a bit on the night we went - pub quiz and a separate large event in a side room. Other than that, nice place.

Decor is good, pub is large so can normally find a table. Shame they don't allow dogs other than in the garden, given they are opposite Clarence Park.Food is overpriced in my opinion and when I went in their yesterday for coffee they said they didn't have any milk..?! How hard would it be to send someone up to tesco to buy some. Really strange.

Large traditional pub with large garden too. Plenty of seating indoors so you can get away from the TVs, if that’s not your thing. Nicely decorated too.Good selection of real ales and lagers - Mad Goose is a favourite. Haven’t eaten here yet but was surprised by how good the food looked - and it appears to go down well.Friendly staff and a little quieter than the Town Centre pubs. Definitely worth a visit!

Had good Easter Monday lunch here. Nice trad with modern twist pub with larg'ish courtyard garden which is usually fairly quiet. Service friendly & quick. Taking 1 star off as no gluten free beer.
