The Engineer in St Albans

If you want a Sunday roast this might be the place to go to, during the first lock down they built an extension to use as a dining area and by what I heard it is extremely popular, might be an idea to book well ahead so not disappointed if you want to eat on busy weekends.The whole pub was really lovely and the garden has lots of individual wooden pods for drinkers.There is a separate sports bar with a telly that wouldn't interfere with people in the front bar and that has a separate small outside area with the sport playing in that to.The young lady working behind the bar just never stopped, serving drinks and delivering meals and as soon as a table was vacated took away glasses and plates.People living near are very lucky to have such a great local to be able to pop into.

I recently hired the restaurant for a family gathering to remember and celebrate the life of my late mother. We were very well looked after, staff were amazing, extremely welcoming, courteous and helpful. All my requests were fulfilled above and beyond and the sandwich buffet that was plentiful and delicious. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Lovely pub tucked away in Southdown, Harpenden. Pleasant pub with lovely atmosphere and decor. Severed with smiles. I had a lamb roast and the Mrs had a vegetarian Sunday roast. For desserts, we had sticky toffee pudding. Food was delicious and portion size was good.

Lovely outside area and cosy feel. Really good good and selection if drinks. Would definitely recommend!

Really good especially the dessert. If I had a small quibble I'd like the gravy to be thicker as it was more a watery jus.

A great pub in Harpenden, tucked away from the city center which is great because you can park easily here. Great selection of ales and beers as you expect. Good selection of pub grubs as well. Highly recommend :)

Came here a couple sundays ago with my daughter who booked us in, I’d never been before but the service and food was just wonderful. Our waitress Hollie was so attentive and made the whole experience rather lovely. The Yorkshire puddings are so fluffy and the roast overall was very yummy, only disappointment was there were no green vegetables included and those are my favourite. We will definitely be returning and bringing the rest of the family soon! Thank you Engineer!! :-)

If I could give this pub more than a 5 star rating I would! A small group of us spent yesterday evening in The Engineer and we had a fantastic time. The pub itself was welcoming, super clean and had a great ambiance. The staff were second to none, friendly, very accommodating and just generally fabulous hosts. Thank you Tom and your team!

This pub is fantastic. Great range of drinks, the quiz is brilliant, sports, awesome staff. Highly recommend! My favourite by far

Small nice pub with great food. Portions are fair, prices are on the high end but still affordable. Based on the time you might stumble upon a local drunk that could ruin the atmosphere.
