The Smoke House Deli in St Albans

Nice hidden gem - wondered in just to pop my head in not thinking I'd buy anything but was so welcomed in and confidently recommend a choice sat down to eat. Quality ingredients put together really well. Will return!

Gels makes the best coffee and I feel very lucky to have this café/deli in my neighbourhood.

I mentioned I was having to cut down on carbs and ended up with a delicious Greek salad. My friends were very impressed by their food too.

You can count on them for a heart breakfast, friendly chat and a buzzing vibe. Perfect neighbourhood cafe to meet with friends over a cup of coffee.

Had the greek sandwiy with halloumi & added chicken, & I thought it was fab! The brown bread appeared homemade (not the cheap rubbish kind in a bag) & the ratio of the sandwich was perfect. Reminded me a good ol' American sandwich (I've found the ones here tend to be tiny, bread isn't toasted, not enough meat or sauce etc).Boyfriend had the Reuben& unfortunately wasn't as happy as I was (he'd rate this 3 out of 5).But since it's my review, I'm giving it a 4.5.Service was just alright - though I was expecting it to be superb based on all the glowing reviews below.

Tucked away in parade of shops you wouldn’t expect this place was well worth the visit!They smoke their own meat, sandwiches were superb, fries for kids perfect, lovely pancakes, big old Italian coffees snd nice deli stuff to buy.Proper service from old school Italian Gels and his team meant well definitely be back.With free parking right outside, why not avoid the chains in middle of St Albans and treat the family!

I went there today for lunch being new around the area and decided to try their Jerk Chicken sandwich and i must say after the first bite, it is the best jerk chicken sandwich i have ever had and super tasty! Love the portion size and the garlic mayo makes it a game changer! Highly recommend!

Amazing place! We moved away over a year ago - today we were lucky enough to be visiting and called in for Brunch. They did not disappoint....Best Eggs Benedict ever - truly superb!! With the most amazing staff. Thank you.

Pretty good food from a hidden gem but with a couple of tweaks this could be one to be sought out... a real destination. Firstly the food quality is good and with nice bread choices (hey guys don't give me a slightly burnt toast next time...). Good coffee, nice ingredients and well done like i like them, but this may not be to everyones taste, so best to check maybe. The name Smokehouse made it not look like a cafe when i was passing, so I nearly carried on past... then the menu is a little confusing with too many options, people like simplicity, so may some set menus for breakfast perhaps....

Great start to finish Lived around here as a kid, was Hulse the best greengrocers in the area Nice selection of sandwiches and cakes etc, friendly staff, I hope this is a success for many yesrs to come
