The food and the friendliness of the staff gets 5* but the staff could be better trained. The menus and empty glasses were left on the table throughout the meal. We ordered steak but had to ask for a steak knife. When are table was cleared we said yes, we do want to order dessert but she never returned to take our order. The serving staff were probably students earning some spare cash and the inexperience shows.

Dog lovers beware!!!!...I booked a table for 4, at what I thought was a dog friendly pub, for Sunday 23rd Jan and unfortunately, was not allowed to go into the main Dinning area, as booked, as they informed me they have never had pets in there - they found 2 very small tables in a cold section of the pub for my elderly parents and my self/wife to crunch together. To make matters worse, I politely questioned why I had eaten in the main restaurant before with my pets after booking exactly the same way, and they implied I was lying. The manageress was extremely rude and not experienced in co-ordinating; she did not care that clearly there was a misunderstanding and there was no intention of me misleading them with my dogs attending! This review saddens me as I have been before several times with my dogs (in the restaurant - with a much more friendly manager btw) and enjoyed the visit albeit waiting an hour for service (I even tipped 20%) - but, being treated like this in front of my elderly parents, was totally unacceptable. The Wicked Lady have lost my business from this point on (btw I recommend The Albans as a very dog friendly pub in St Albans and the manageress is so nice!) and, they have lost my recommendation to my friends, and business partners from this point on.

Fab! Couldn't recommend it more. Great place for end at walk. Gorgeous food, warm fire, lovely rooms. Sunday lunch isn't just slopdosh like you get in regular pubs, each plate is plated with care.

Just got home from a lovely Sunday lunch at The Wicked Lady. The roast beef dinner was absolutely gorgeous. The meat was cooked to perfection, with an enormous Yorkshire pudding and a lovely rich gravy. We took our own cake for one of our party’s birthday and they could not have been more accommodating, bringing it out with candles lit and singing happy birthday. They were extremely busy and we had to wait a bit at times but our waitress was smiling and helpful throughout. It was worth the wait. I’d recommend in an instant!

Visited with a large family group over Christmas. Service a bit slow because of shortage of staff due to Covid and a couple of meals weren't available because of a delivery issue. However we were well looked after by staff and the food was very good - tasty, hot and beautifully presented. One star knocked off because of other customers out of control toddler children.

Food is good. A really nice Sunday roast. However this isn't significantly better than other roasts in the area and because of their incredibly slow service I would suggest other pubs for dinner in future. Staff sat around chatting while the dining room was full of people waiting to order. Very disappointing

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Solid venue. Good Sunday roasts but unfortunately the roast potatoes aren't freshly roasted.
