I’ve heard good things about this place…. but I definitely can’t say I experienced those good things. We booked a table for 4 for Xmas dinner. Well the table we were given was tiny, but that’s ok we can deal with this. The waitress was friendly, so far so good! The food on the other hand was atrocious, the main course was cold, soggy and definitely not what we were expecting, it seems to have been put on the plates way before it was brought out… it was room temperature!!!!We went home hungry and had to cook dinner for the kids.Definitely not worth £49.95 a head….. you get better food (and hot) from a carvery for £10!The manageress gave use 50% of our bill but with this discount it was definitely not worth it….The worst part however it ruined what had up till then been a lovely day.

It was a nice atmosphere and helpful staff for our party of 10 to celebrate a birthday. Very helpful. Food ok, acceptable but sadly those that had the set menu weren't told you had to order dessert at the same time as your main course...hence we had to pay extra for the. Think the staff, knowing it was the set menu, should have asked if we wanted dessert or a starter...rather disappointed with that

This is a typical public house. Very friendly and awesome staff. My Sister and I together with two friends stopped off for a meal with en route to Alban Arena. We opted for main courses x 4 and desserts x 2 and soft drinks x 4. Again with Ember Inns, the food was very good. My Sister's choice was Buttermilk Chicken Burger served with chips. Two large pieces of chicken. I opted for Gammon Steak with Pineapple and a fried egg, again served with chips. Gammon Steak was very thick, juicy and good tasting. After that I opted for some Vanilla ice cream which was very nice. Taking advantage of a 50% off main courses, the total bill came to £ 41 which was amazing value. Our friends and ourselves were pleased with the place, the staff, the food and the ambience and vowed to return in the future.

Very haphazered.. lovely staff. Food we had was good, but a lot missing from menu on a Monday night. Good beer, staff quick to offer free drinks to ladies for inconvenience. They get deliveries on a Tuesday so best to go Wed/Thurs/ Fri/Sat.

Polite and friendly service in a historic building. Sadly, the history is showing in a lack of maintenance. This pub is in need of refurbishment, there was plaster falling off the walls next to the fireplace by our table, and loose tiles laying around in the gents toilets. This made me wonder what state the kitchen was in, although the meals themselves were tasty and hot.Come on M&B, spend some of your profits on this place and return it to its former condition!

Very nice. The sun was shining and we sat outside. They have tables and chairs and wonderful Old Moot huts (3). Food was good and really great value. We had prosecco and beers and soft drinks. Starter of baked camembert (could do more bread). Mains of Two chicken (good) burgers (katsu and buttermilk) one with chips and other with sweet potato fries; One haddock and chips (large and good); One (good) seabass with asparagus and (poor) Mediterranean vegetables. Cost £74. Helpful staff.
