Lizzys Cafe in St Edmundsbury

I eat at Lizzy’s every time I come to visit our daughter and family. Hog Roast on Monday was so delicious🐽don’t forget her delicious dessert’s. I will be back in August for more of her great cooking and wonderful staff.

This should be a lovely cafe, unfortunately the owner is very rude. Perhaps she has forgotten the old adage ‘the customer is King, no customer no business’

This place never fails to please me. I look forward to eating here all the time. Generous portions of gorgeous tasty food. Even the pot of tea for two is very generous. The service is great too, nothing too much trouble and all done with a smile. I've been here several times and I'm looking forward to returning.

Lovely little place. Had to sit outside because of covid but there was lots of space and a lovely atmosphere. Food was amazing! My mum's ploughman's meal was huge. Pretty reasonable prices too 😊

This rating is based on the at least half a dozen times we ate at Lizzy’s while settling in locally, so have a read before you let a few one/star write-ups change your mind. The first time we went in, we were starving and on our way to look for antiques when we saw the conveniently located Lizzy’s Cafe. Lunch was almost over, but Sarah and Annette served up a comforting jacket potato with tuna and the hubby had something equally tasty. The best part was definitely the strawberry rhubarb crisp in custard at the end. Everything tastes fresh and everyone was up for a chat, which is why we lingered for tea and dessert. We came back a few more times for lunch, coffee or tea and dessert, Sunday roast (which is currently some simple hot dishes rather than elaborate roasts for the summer). I’ve had the kiln smoked salmon and the salmon and prawns and liked both. The kids love the tuna sandwiches. We saw all the hot dishes come out of the kitchen the Sunday we were there and they all looked good and we heard compliments from other tables. I should warn the desserts are so tempting. So far we’ve had the chocolate cake, the walnut cake, the lemon ginger crunch, the fruit scone, and the brownie. You can’t go wrong with the scone. The lemon ginger crunch is our favorite so far. The cakes are not to sweet, but if you order the brownie, share it with at least two maybe three because it is decadent. We met Lizzy after the third time we went and she is hardworking, dedicated to her restaurant, and just lovely to talk with. Occasionally, you will also see some local teenagers working there. They are learning and very polite and eager; it’s nice, as a small business owner, she provides that opportunity for the younger folks in the community. And bottom line, that’s what Lizzy’s is about. You’ll see plenty of regulars in, but also the tourists from far away who help Risby by buying antiques or plants from the garden center. We think the service is spot on for the size of the kitchen and restaurant and the food tastes homemade. It’s like going to a friends house for lunch or tea, and she just happens to be a really good cook and baker. Go with that in mind. Take your time, talk to the folks working there, get cozy and read one of the magazines on the table...like you would at a friend’s house.

Lizzy's Cafe is in my local area and last week was the first time I have visited. The cafe was full but our large party enjoyed some lovely cakes and scones and teas and coffees. We will deffinately call in again soon.

Visited Lizzy's cafe at Risby barns a few weekends ago in need of a coffee! Such nice location and the chef (I assume was Lizzy) was polite and accommodating so much so we stayed for a lovely lunch panini. Certainly will be back soon as very confused about any negative reviews.

Sat at table for 20 minutes, nobody came over to even recognise we were there. Understandable if you are busy but at least come over to acknowledge we were here. Cook very busy but must organise the staff. Avoid if busy

Wow what an absolutely awful experience.Myself, my mother in law and my daughter went to this cafe recently and were shocked at the lack of customer service, it’s as if Basil Faulty had opened a cafe.We ordered three milkshakes, at almost £2 each we expected something a bit better than nesquik. I swear that’s what we got. £6 for three small glasses of nesquik.The waiter stood around and when we asked if we could place our food order, we were rudely told by the woman that the people who came in long after us were going to be served first as they were going somewhere, then she muttered something angrily under her breath whilst wiping down the table of a mother and son who had just left (they were sick of waiting to be served by the man standing around so just walked out angrily)We then just paid for our pitiful drinks and left, we never intend to return. ,

This place is terrible and extremely rude, which is a shame especially as it is the only cafe where the Antique centre shops are based in Risby. My wife has been there a number of times with our well behaved but active toddlers and every time the owner is rude and she has now overstepped the boundary of decency.Even her staff, a young man and woman, didn't know where to look, as she proceeded to be rude to 5 yr old and 3 yr old boys, presuming they had done something which they hadn't. She has no decency, no manners and the food and drinks are below par, the village and shops surrounding would be better off without this below par business where the owner does not understand the concept that toddlers talk and walk differently to adults, quite sad really. I can only hope she has no children of her own, as otherwise I will feel extremely sorry for them.Even when my wife asked why she was rude, she just continued her verbal vulgar manner and the atmosphere in this terrible cafe was even worse than usual. The only retort she had was my wife was not welcome to return after my wife trying to resolve why she was upset, so much for the "customer is always right" principle. There are so many decent people running sweet cafes with good food, please give them a chance and let this cafe keep its usual solitary customer....Its always been known that bad atmosphere and regular food can still leave a bad taste in the mouth, and this operation is not even regular food, very below par.
