Pretty shocking to take advantage of a global pandemic to line your own pockets. Wouldn't go here again.

Lovely village pub, and great food when available (but that's not often)!

This pub is under new management and has a lovely atmosphere. The locals are a great bunch. I was visiting the area and would recommend this place. It all so has a lovely beer garden.

Popped in for a pint on my way to my eye test at Barnard Castle. I only looked at the landlord, but he seemed like a nice enough bloke so I awarded him a multi-million contract to deliver life-saving drugs.

Ordered 50m of PPE supplies, didn't get any would like my money back. Ordered the chips and gave them to the owner Alex Bourne, he's gonna need them more than the tramps when he's in jail.

Rubbish, wanted some food on a monday night but the kitchen was not working.update:.....even worse and to my horror (if there isn’t already, there really should be a law against this) one hour after posting the review above, somebody called me from the pub and berated me for posting such a review and insisted I should remove the review.......unbelievable! To make matters worse for him, it turned out that the kitchen wasn’t just closed that Monday night, it had been closed for some time as I learned that 5 days earlier my brother had also visited looking for food and was told the kitchen is closed today!!

Best sandwich 👍We stopped off for a quick bite to eat and have to say the lunch menu light bite was delicious. I ordered the lemon chicken which was fabulous. Absolutely delicious. They make their own bread from pizza dough. I'd add some garlic butter for the wow factor. My partner has the mozzarella and tomato, he loved it. Nice setting, lively pub. Nice garden for when it's sunny. Prices were good too.

We have been in a few lunchtimes and found the place very comfortable with a good fire and reasonably priced good food. Try the chips and juicy chicken wings... A nice atmosphere created by the lovely American barmaid who serves prosecco in the biggest delightful glasses... don't stop doing what you are doing! Great...

Beautiful pub with friendly staff however food was a real let down. We spent £38 on two Caesar salads, some garlic bread, a pimms and a wine spritzer so we were expecting a good quality meal for the money. The lettuce in the salad tasted as though it was going off/looked unwashed and had not been torn, stem had not been trimmed (it literally came as two lettuce hearts chucked on the plate as though straight out of a packet and I had to sit tearing all my salad and tearing the lettuce away from the muddy looking stem) had a very stingy serving of chicken/anchovies and stingy amount of dressing. Presentation was very poor and unappealing and lettuce tasted horrible. Very disappointed as we had high hopes because the pub is so pretty and idyllic. Enjoyed the scenery and smell of wood burner outside where we sat but not much else.

Great pub! Visited for a Valentines meal and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere and food. They serve delicious pizzas and a good selection of desserts too! The staff are fantastic and we will definitely visit again. Highly recommend it!
