My family and I are still in absolute shock after our visit to The Fox Inn this afternoon. After my cousin called in advanced to make them aware of her 2 year son with anaphylaxis we assumed they would be prepared. However, on arrival we were presented with an allergens menu that hadn't been updated for 2 years, my cousin chose the chicken nuggets for her son as they were stated as egg free on the allergen menu. This was double checked when ordering for him only to be told they were in fact NOT egg free. My cousin rightly pulled the manager up on this and explained that had she not checked and her son had been given the chicken nuggets he would experienced a potentially fatal allergic reaction. The manager was extremely rude and unprofessional to a mum that was simply just trying to protect her child's life. It is that serious. The manager continued to be rude and seemed to lack complete incompetence in terms of allergies which is very concerning considering they are a pub serving food. In the end we were asked to leave. Luckily we were able to find a table at another venue who were incredibly accommodating. I am disgusted at the service we received at The Fox Inn today. Shocking. Also not to mention the pub was still open despite half of the roof falling to pieces in the next room.

Beautiful pub, friendly staff and the food was good too. My only criticism would be the barman/server wearing orange nail varnish. I was always under the impression that hospitality workers were not allowed to wear nail varnish.

Great place superior room was fab. Lovely big bath lots of hot water to fill 😁. And a four poster bed! Only thing missing was a coffee pod machine or a cafetiere and ground coffee. The food in the pub was good in the eve but the breakfast was great. Will stay again if that way 😊

Was here on Weds evening with my one of my daughters and my partner. The food was superb, the beer was great and the service brilliant. Thoroughly recommend this place. 👍🏻

Stayed there over the New Year and absolutely loved it. The pub was cozy and well stocked considering the delivery problems. The food was very good and the staff were amazing, particularly Lewis. The room was idyllic too, we shall definitely be returning sooner rather than later.

Tonight was the 4th consecutive time I have tried to get a meal in The Fox and been turned away because the Kitchen was closed. I have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere at this pub, as well as the staff being really good,.so it's sad that they cannot get the issues sorted.

Never disappointed in this venue. The welcome was genuinely warm, the food was piping hot, the desserts delicious and the liqueur coffee a work of art. Four adults 'fed and watered' and needing nothing more.Do visit but book in advance as The Fox in Bury St. Edmunds is always deservedly busy (but relaxing when you're there!).Thanks particularly to Paul and to Lewis for looking after us the other evening. KR's.

Went on May 17, 2021...first day of being able to eat inside after months. They do have a new menu, but I would be cautious with it. We ordered the Mussels with chips and the 8oz sirloin with 3 garlic prawns as a topping. Mussels were fine, but the prawns on the steak were tiny shrimp. £1.50 charge for tiny shrimp as you can see in the photo? We also ordered a El Pico Cab Sauvignon and received a Savignon Blanc. Again, small issues with one day to adjust. Will give them the benefit of the doubt after not being open for months and adjusting to the new menu. We will be back after the kinks are worked out in a few months. Great staff and service though, super friendly folks. Reservations recommended for awhile until everything settles down.
