The Marquis of Cornwallis in St Edmundsbury

Stayed for one night 27/2/22, was a lovely stay. Room great size, very clean and warm. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant great quality and very tasty. Evening meal wasn’t rushed, all contributed to relaxing stay. Only negative comment would be that we were woken at 0730 due to building works going on attached to the building, and our room was at the front. (No5) Receptionist had told us noise shouldn’t start until about 9am. We enjoyed our stay, bed really comfy too.

The Marquis was absolutely incredible. The setting was beautiful - I loved the beams and the big windows. The food was amazing and the presentation of it was gorgeous. My favourite part was the staff, I have never received better customer service. They were all so professional, friendly and polite. This place pulls out all the stops to give you a amazing experience, definitely will be returning here on more special occasions. Thank you so much for a lovely evening.

We had a really good meal, However the starter of the squid which I was the only person in my group to have, so couldn’t compare with others I found was very dry and had no taste. The waiter/ waitress staff needs to have their own stations in order to communicate with each other, however they were all really lovely.

Breakfast was at high quality, staff are friendly and beautiful grounds plenty of parking. I’ll will be definitely returning.

Excellent. My wife and I have travelled extensively UK and worldwide, this place offers great service without pretention, the food and accommodation is both first class. I would suggest that air con is installed into Cornwallis suite as it did get a little too warm. We will most definitely be back for a few more days and nights.

What a fantastic place.We had full English breakfast on the deck outside, overlooking the country.Top quality ingredients and young staff, being overseen by a thoroughly professional and charming F&B manager.Beautiful landscaping, plenty of parking.A wonderful experience.

The food was outstanding, quite possibly the best meal we have ever had. The steak literally melted in your mouth. Whilst it was quite pricey, it was worth every penny & decent portion sizes. Could not fault the food at all. Would be a great choice for a special occasion. Staff all lovely. Great setting with fabulous views. Will definitely be back.

Just returned from a very pleasant stay at The Marquise, we were greetedon arrival by a well presented, professional and smiley member of the reception team, the room we had was clean and comfy with lovely bed linen , fresh milk was brought up to the room within minutes of asking for our tea and coffee. Dinner in the restaurant was tasty with fresh local produce which I know doesn't come cheap but feel priced a little high, breakfast was great my best meal. I would like to try Sunday lunch hopefully one day soon, On the whole very good and well worth a visit.
