My husband and I came here for an Easter Sunday roast. The beef was advertised to come out as pink, which is great as that is how I love beef, yet it came out blue. Being typical brits we didn’t have the gumption when asked how the meal was to say it was too blue. So after deciding that we have paid a good amount of money to NOT eat the food we reluctantly, and very pleasantly, said how it was too blue but not to worry. The person serving was very young which made us feel even worse but we explained it and that it wasn’t his fault at all but we wanted to give feedback to the chef. The manager of the restaurant came over and was quite passive aggressive with us, saying how it we clearly enjoyed our meal (despite one plate being sent back half eaten), should have said something as they came to check on us twice (I corrected her as only she checked on us, not this other person) and I also apologised about making her colleague uncomfortable as it was his second shift but that we didn’t want anything in return but decided at the end to say something so they can pass on the feedback. It was SO uncomfortable and I have never experienced such bad customer service before. Having a manger come up and be so confrontational saying it was our fault for not saying something sooner was just unprofessional. Beyond angry at this point. We used to love coming in here for a drink, heard good reviews on the food and it was just awful. We won’t be coming in here ever again simply for how they handled our feedback. There’s much better places for a Sunday roast than here!!

Food very good but service somewhat slow, and it wasn't really that busy. They did acknowledge it though and provided us with free after lunch coffee or dessert.

Visiting from London for Christmas we managed to get a table for 4 on New year's eve. The staff were helpful, special thanks to Fern who's customer service was superb. She took great care with our requests and showed such thoughtfulness. Lovely experience for us stressed mom's. The food was delicious and really the whole menu made it difficult to choose. Hope to visit again on my next trip back.

The best Sunday roast I've ever had, by far. My partner and I visited Bury St Edmunds from London and had a lovely day, the highlight for me being the food and service in the One Bull. Everything on my plate was outstanding. The portions were generous and the quality of the food was amazing. The staff were really friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and it was a really good price. Couldn't fault it. I was even given extra pork crackling without asking for it after sharing my love of it with the waitress. I'd travel from London to the One Bull just to have a roast there.

Beautiful interior in this pub, and they make delicious grilled sandwiches! I highly recommend the Reuben sandwich (whole meal is only £11) — it’s super tasty and filling. The only thing I’d say is that you’re better off going for an early lunch (before 14:00) so you not only get a table but also get your orders taken quickly and food get served on time. If you wait too late, the crowd builds up and it’ll take a long time for your order to be processed.

We were very disappointed with our visit. We arrived at 1245 and sat down for a drink and to look at the menu. When we said we would just like sandwiches we were told that it would be a half hour wait. We decided to wait, but then discovered that we couldn't even order our lunch for half an hour....and thereafter we would have a further wait. All this because they were apparently busy, but the restaurant was at most 50 per cent full, and nobody was eating in the bar area which was also only half full. This was a Friday lunchtime in December. In view of the fact that the hospitality industry is desperate for customers during these Covid times, they not only lost our custom, but we saw three other couples being turned away whilst we were finishing our drink. We went elsewhere and had a lovely lunch. It is very unlikely that we will return.

We are on the bank holiday Monday and had a very nice meal. It's a set menu with 3-4 options per course. I highly recommend the onion soup starter. Delicious!
