Chequers in Stevenage

Love the location and pub! All staff are super friendly and welcoming! They also don’t leave you waiting! The food is perfect however bring back lasagne please!!!!!

Booked a table for 7 for a family get together. I ordered steak and ordered mushrooms as a side. When the meal was served, they told me they didn't have mushrooms.My daughter is gluten free and although they advertise a wide selection of gluten free food, in reality the menu is extremely limited.For desert, the gluten free option was a triple scoop of ice cream, as long as it was any combination of vanilla and Baileys. The food we had was OK, but the choice was terrible. We won't be returning any time soon.

Great pub/restaurant. Food was excellent and staff could not be better. Shortly under new management and they seem lovely so it's in good hands. Thanks for creating va lovely mother's Day for us.

Fabulous food. Lovely relaxing surroundings. Friendly and efficient staff. I would have given five stars, but we got smoked out by the open fire not being watched carefully after it was lit!

Fantastic venue, amazingly attentive staff, great food and good value for money. Thoroughly enjoyed my valentine's meal with the wife. Would definitely recommend for future "celebration" nights as they won't take the Mick on price and still give a great value meal. I'm stuffed!

Been here a couple of times, had a meal this time and it was delicious. Service was excellent to. I highly recommend this place. We had our meal right in front of the log fire. Lovely jubbly.

A really warm, cosy rustic old country pub/restaurant with parking. We stopped off for a nibble and drink as we drove through the area. We loved sitting by the old fireplace and watched the flames. The staff were friendly and provided good service.

Mmm The Chequers, Lovely place for a Traditional Pub lunch. Original Wooden Beams inside, watch ur head, some small walkways inside. Very presentable inside. Staff are very Curtious. Went on a Sunday, did not expect the pub to be fully booked, but they squeezed us in ( table for two).I had the Trio of Meats, Beef, Turkey & Pork Belly, all with a compliments, dessert was Rich Banoffee pie, to die for .Well Done ZoeWell done Chefs - Compliments.

This venue is making a welcome effort at keeping up COVID safety measures. It felt clean and pleasant. The food was lovely. I don’t eat any dairy and the staff made a real effort to make my house burger to meet that requirement, swapping the bun for a vegan version and leaving out the Mayo and cheese. They even had vegan burger sauce! So tasty. I had the coconut slice for desert. Quite plain but nice to have the option.I will definitely be returning to try more things on their menu.

We booked a table to celebrate my partner's graduation and his parents had travelled over from Ireland for the occasion. We also had our dog with us and she was given a very warm welcome. The member of staff that served us (Tommy) was excellent. Very attentive and friendly without being too full on. The food was exceptional. I would highly recommend the beef bourginon which was stunning and fell apart when you cut into it, and the burger which was delicious! The whole experience was really good and we loved our visit. Will definitely be visiting again, thank you!!
