Raj Mahal in Stevenage

Used them over a month ago! Waited an hour and 30 mins for delivery. After 30 mins, we were told on his way etc until it arrived. Even the delivery man was shocked. They were rude and never responded to any of my feedback. Totally unprofessional.

Gorgeous! Absolutely delicious! Ordered a delivery last Friday, we were very happy with the quality and flavour of the food! We had a chicken tikka korai, a chicken passanda and my daughter is a vegan, they did her a vegetable biriyani. We also had a garlic naan, a pershwari naan, 2 mushroom bhaji and 2 onion bhaji. It was all so delicious! Flavourful, tender chicken in lovely sauces. Will be back very soon! And, the delivery guy, an older, Italian gentleman?, was so friendly, polite and funny, it was all an absolute delight! And no, I don't work for them, or receive anything from them! 😂 Just a v happy customer! 😍

Ordered a collection on their website which gave a time of 7:27pm for pick up. Went round to pick it up and after much difficulty found the place (It has the Maj Mahal signage above the entrance.) Was told that the order had been sent out for delivery. Returned home and 30 minutes later no delivery. Which is very annoying as it's only a 2 minute walk to the place. Cancelled the order after a heated discussion – not the owners fault apparently!

CAN YOU GIVE ZERO STARS?AVOID AVOID AVOIDThey updated the app to say "Out for delivery", I waited 30 minutes, they are 2 miles away. I called them to ask where the food was, they said that it isn't out for delivery and that just eat must had selected out for delivery not them, yeah right!I asked the guy to be honest with me, he said why would he lie, then he said he's cancelling the order and that I'm to call just eat then he put the phone down on me!Worst customer service is have ever received

Just placed an order via just eat - it arrived within 30 mins and was so hot! The food was the nicest Indian we've had in a long time! Will definitely return.

I do not recommend getting a takeaway from this restaurant if you are vegan or vegetarian.Which is a real shame as pre-covid, this was one of my favourite dine-in restaurants in Stevenage and I am looking forward to returning (but only in person).The star rating I have given is based on a bad experience (2-3 stars) versus usual food quality and usual service (5 stars), so even in my absolute disappointment I have tried to be fair.If you eat meat, absolutely order from here - the food is delicious and excellent value.There are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, that are delicious. However on receiving a fully vegan takeaway order, there was a meat dish labelled 'vegetable'. This was, I am sure, a genuine error, where the wrong lid was placed on the wrong dish as it is not a vegetarian restaurant. So when I called to rectify, and get the meal I initially ordered, the man on the end of the phone was very apologetic and immediately agreed to send the correct dish. Mistakes happen occasionally, and this was handled perfectly. If this was the end of the story, there would be five stars, no contention, and no current search for a comparable restaurant.However, less than five minutes later, I recieved a phone call from the restaurant informing me the chef did not believe me. This is not okay. I was asked to lift the lid and look around to see if I was correct as they could have written 'meat' on the lid instead of 'vegetable'. I informed them that the lid actually stated 'vegetable' and of my original theory (above), but there were definitely chunks of meat. I originally thought chicken, but it could have been pork? Due to ethical reasons, I haven't eaten meat for over half of my life so I admit I may not be able to tell different species' apart when they are in a curry. My offer to send a photograph was declined, and I was then informed me that a new meal would indeed still be on it's way. The delivery driver was very nice. However the meal was effectively ruined and due the disagreement, I couldn't trust the meal to eat it.My dad (a meat eater) was happy, because as a result, he received two curries (they didn't want the other one back, and I didn't want to just throw it away). But this definitely tarnished the experience and I am unable to risk compromising my beliefs with the possibility of eating meat. This has meant my dad has been disappointed with every subsequent curry.Again, I cannot stress enough that I am certain it was originally just a mistake. I have eaten there numerous times and not had an experience like this. If I hadn't received the second call, I would have continued to get takeaways from there, but it was a distressing experience that I will not be repeating.

Disgusting that this restaurant has the cheek to call itself open on Google. Ordered through Foodhub and 2 hours later no food arrived. Ended up having to walk to the restaurant and its closed. Definitely would not recommend or use this place ever again.

Worse experience I have ever had ordering a takeaway, I hope people read this before they order. The date is 18/11/2020, ordered through just eat all fine, order was getting a bit long before ordering so I gave them a call and they said there was a power cut, which at the time was plausible, so after 20 mins of the order being out through it was accepted, which again fine and the app was showing it would arrive at 1605. By 1620 gave the number off just eat a call, they told me he would find out where it was then call me back. I called back around 1645 when they hadn't called me back, they hung up the phone rather than take my call, as it was a mobile number they could see who was calling. I then spoke to just eat and they said they would try and contact them and they then ignored them also. After speaking to justeat I received a refund but still no contact with the restaurant. This all ended at 1710 almost 2 hours after my original order. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL and would hope that anyone who reads this avoid ordering from here in the future, I would also like to add they probably didn't even have a power cut.

We went here on Sunday at 9pm. We were told that the kitchen was going to shut at 10pm, this was fine as we were only having a main dish. Our food arrived and was delicious however, the service was terrible. My husband was still eating his food, he had half a plate left and the waiter took some of his cutlery away and nearly took the naan bread. We stopped him and said that we were not fished. My husband had just finished eating and the main door got shut and locked! We had a table outside. We felt very unwelcome and probably would not return. Shame!

I will only order Indian food from Raj Mahal and I am half indian! ⭐️My 2nd order in two days.I recently have been travelling to Harrow for my "local" Indian.But I'm happy to say after trying various restaurants we as a family are happy to have found a much closer one which is beautiful flavours 🤤😋The delivery guys are really friendly, and the chefs know what their doing!I will be returning to Raj Mahal very often 🥘😃And I'll be happy to recommend Raj Mahal to anyone I know.Thanks for great service, and thank you for today's complimentary plain naan which came with my order 😀
